Radiator petcock 2.7 ?

I fully expect to be ripped on this one but here it goes. Dumb question but where is the Radiator petcock on the 2.7 ? Do I have to remove the skid plate ? It's usually on the drivers side. I want to drain the antifreeze in the radiator and refill it. Easy job, but not for me. Any help for a visually impaired DIY appreciated. Links and or pics would be great. Thanks. Curious George.

 

Man .... got finally got me thinking ..... went out .... popped the hood .... looked about ..... my guess is that you are going have to remove the fan shroud .... which of course has the radiator overfill attached.

Has anyone been able to turn the petcock with out removing the fan shroud ? If so how ? What tool did you use ? I was thinking I could put some tubing on the outlet and drain it without a mess.

 

I can on my 05 with no problems at all. No clearance issues or anything hindering the petcock on the radiator.

Now if you really want to get rid of some fluid just pull a lower hose its a fast method of draining and if you have a small lift or some good jacks get a 3 gallon bucket and collect the fluid so the EPA idiots don't get aggravated.

What do you do with the collected fluid take it to Washington and drop it off at the EPA ?

 

No I just take it to a local shop and drop it off. If I took it to Washington you would find me on the news.

According to the EPA you should collect it and have it recycled.

 

So...flushing it down the toilet is a no-no???

 

I was wondering about that too tho U R being sarcastic maybe. I bet a lot of people flush paint down the toilet now that it is water clean up.

 

I drained my radiator and the block a few weeks ago. Took some pics but haven't had time to post them yet. The radiator drain is on the drivers side. I didn't have to remove anything, but I don't have a skid plate. The engine block drain is on the passenger side just below the exhaust headers. I think it's brass and it sticks out like a sideways L from the engine block so it should stand out. I used 1/4" vinyl tubing to attack to both of the drains. Then put the other ends in a couple of empty washer fluid jugs, took off the radiator cap, opened the drains there you go. Draining the reservoir was a little difficult as it has a rubber plug with a spring clamp on it. The clamp comes off easy, but since there's no valve once you remove the plug, out comes all the fluid.
