I thought about chopping my flatbed's fenders to run 35s. But even just 35s would be terrible on the IFS. Grind Hard is solid axle swapping their truck soon over it.

Read the first post, that was enough to realize......what I realized(I'll play nice). But it confirms that more and more people looking to push blame onto everyone or everything else except their own damn self. Blows my mind and by FAR my biggest pet peeve. Bad enough when it's 20 year olds, but when it's the adult adults like me 40+, and they have that little entitled, whiny, victim, 'poor little old me' mentality.. omg dude grow a nutsack and take some fking responsibility. Be a fuggin man.

Edit:my old man get off my lawn rant

I would not fit in at all in that third gen section. It's not a tech section. It's a whiny baby girls complaint section.

    Okay, now I'm done

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Good bit stronger actually. It's not even a size difference (well not significantly anyway... The 8.4 name is a misnomer) but the 8.4 carrier has lateral bracing to stop the pinion from pushing the ring gear away and stripping. The 8" minitruck axle (what the locker axle is) is a very old and rather small differential for something that has a GVWR of 5300lbs

Any idea why they opted to make the locking rear ends weaker than the open ones? Seems counter intuitive but maybe they just weren't looking at it from the same lens we do. I guess most people in stock trucks aren't ever going to have to worry about blowing up a rear end, 8" or not

I wondered if or what something was majorly improved or different between them. I'll have to look at it in the diagram, I hear what you're saying, I just wanna see it in my mind or with my eyes so it clicks better

They already existed from minitruck days, why spend more money for a lower production option. The finally fixed it with the 3rd gens, well sorta, they had a rocky start with the whole production.... But now it's a nice size harrop style locker. Much stouter all around from engagement to gear support.
