You want to defy all odds, shoot a big, mature whitetail doe at 10 yards. Hardest thing there is to shoot IMO.
This is so true. They start all that damn head bobbing and foot stomping shit if they see you even make one small flinch much less try to draw the bow. They'll pick you off faster than anything in the woods. I always wait until they're looking away or behind a tree before I make any movement.
Learned to do that ...the hard way...lol

Shit man, I've been picked off by so many of them. They have ruined my day many times. I consider myself lucky if they don't blow the woods down as they leave too. Hard pill to swallow.

I started "smoking" my clothes a few years back and don't seem to get picked off on scent anymore. Scent seems to make them blow more than movement does, around here anyway. Also always try to breathe through my nose when they're close. It's amazing what they can pick up on, even the bacteria from your mouth.

The doe are twitchy here and bucks usually hide in the background unless season is closed and then they are all over

This new place I hunt has a ton of mature does. Rifle is closed on doe until end of November in our county but bow is open for both sexes so I carry rifle and bow most times I go. Every time I leave my bow and rifle hunt every doe in the woods comes and stands broadside at 20-30 yards. Makes me sick. Not making that mistake anymore this year.

Yeah, my RX1 hasn't eaten yet this year. That's gonna change soon. We have way too many does on our place. Beauty of our tag system is that you buy a sportsman's license for $70 and get 12 tags. Can kill 10 does here.

That is brutal. Georgia wants them all dead apparently. Insurance companies raise hell about it. I have seen 3 completely plastered all over GA-400 this past week. We definitely have a problem here and they want them gone. Rut is on, drive with caution. Haha

You could always shoot over to Wa and get a deer too, looks like our non resident tags are ridiculous though, $430 for a deer but only $470 for an elk, easy decision.

I ate tag soup yesterday on a lottery draw second deer tag, season ended Sunday.

We have a ton too. The powers that be are trying to change that I guess. The beautiful thing is that hunters are learning QDM practices so they're defeating the purpose. They have a visible game check system online here now that dictates a lot of what they do as far as what each county gets to shoot the following year. While not everyone checks their deer, I personally believe it keeps most hunters honest. It's a big fine and possible loss of hunting rights if you get caught not checking it. On top of that, most processors won't take your deer without a game check confirmation number. They're trying to keep it straight here at least. Step up from a few years ago. It was a free for all. They do this with both turkey and deer.

The two processors near us won’t take a deer without a harvest number either. The one closest to our house on opening day of muzzle loader and opening day of rifle the last several years there have been 2 game wardens there weighing deer, pulling jaw bones, etc.

Got this pic the other day. Too bad they are super unpredictable here where you can’t use bait.

I agree man, but try hunting them without it and it’s even harder. Lol! I normally buy a bear license which is now separate just in case I saw one. Since they have made it a separate fee the number of bears has skyrocketed. That bear is in a neighborhood. The other place I hunt (haven’t been out this year though) has a bunch. During summer when you have a game camera out bears are out more than deer which can be sketchy when refreshing the camera spot. I ran into a mom and 3 cubs. I always bring a sidearm just in case. But... That county has banned even putting stuff out for deer up to 9/1 so we can’t even get pictures with using any corn or anything because of CWD. BS.

Here is a couple of pics from that same neighborhood spot from a couple of years ago. Monsters for this area.

The last pic was actually taken when I was working on a stand only about 75 yards away. Glad we didn’t cross paths. Lol. These are all in a neighborhood which is crazy. They are so stealthy man.
