Well yah, that’s obvious...







Now that you point me in that direction.

 

Spend the day test fitting front bumper and grill area. Comes with a Pro grill so I will have to make my own. Actually getting harder to sand and smooth out the parts the smaller they get. Still got a lot of fitting to do but getting closer.

 

awesome love scale trucks. I have had many scale rc crawlers over the years.

Another one of the hard parts is putting 2 panels together that would have seams that are not on the full size Tacoma. Once you get most of the printer lines out and fit 2 pieces together you have to fill the gap, sand until it becomes one piece. Hear is the front fender. The seam would be in the wrong place if I just left it. Roof, hood, back wall, bed sides and bumpers are all 2 piece.

As you can see the front lower piece is missing.

Here's a good shot of the printer lines you need to remove on the outside of most panels. Not quite this bad on the outside of the panels.

 

Layer lines suck! But, it is the nature of the beast for now. In the end, large format printers are even worse.

 

Man that’s a lot of work, It’s looking good though. It’s really coming together.

Build is coming along really nicely! What are you using as filler?

 

Truck looks great! I feel carpel tunnel setting in just reading through this board.

 

What size wheels you gonna run? RPP Hobby has tons of choices.

For any body work I'm just using Automotive Glazing putty.

 

1.9 is about as close as I can come to 17's.

 

They make a 1.7, but there are less choices.

 

Spent much of the last 2 days starting cab assembly. First trying to get panel gaps as close to even as I could but also making sure other parts lined up. Then filling seams that shouldn't be there while retaining good body flow.

I can’t believe how involved building one of these is. I would have never expected all the detail work. Here I thought building a rc car was just painting a body and slapping everything together

I don’t think I could ever remotely pull this off, my hats off to you.

 

Many people just put it together and paint it. It looks really good from a distance. My OCD won't let me do that. Also, just ordered my mirror ditch and puddle lights. Gonna give it a try on the extra set of mirrors I had made. Not gonna be easy since the mirrors are so small.

 

I can’t imagine even trying to get that all wired up.

Not going to lie, this is going to be killer when it all said and done. I’m super jealous.
