The last sentence is true, semantics do matter. When there is an actual differentiation between function. But the only thing different between every other gear and overdrive in an automatic transmission is the style of gears that are used. It's just a planetary reduction, but it's a gear. I won't fault you that one though. Because it actually stems back likely further than either of us. Overdrive as a name was used as a selling feature when it was first coming along. That you are overdriving your ratio thus going faster than the RPM produced by your engine was just marketing wank created to help sell the idea and it stuck around. A speed and a gear have no difference here. It's an entirely functional range like any other gear. The only thing in the transmission that might apply to would be the torque converter. Because it's only one to one with a gear when it's locked up otherwise it's torque multiplying by way of using RPM. My gear shift on my manual is labeled 5th, but it's my OD ratio... Which one is right haha

By the way, I'm not at all interested in this conversation. I'm sure we could go at this all night since we just started down the path of splitting hairs. I only pointed it out originally because you were trying to discourage Tyler from a choice that would have really benefited him and it seemed from your inaccurate estimated figure that it was baseless.

I just went with the 24F. From my measuring the battery tray wouldn't work with anything larger. Not that the stock tray does much.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Yes... we are splitting hairs... and at the end of the day we can go back to my miscalculation due to the fact that everytime I've made that calc, I've been plugging in a 1.1 final gear. Which I did again not thinking about the overdrive speed, gear, comquat or whatever it is. :)

If you don't find what you're looking for through searching you should start your own thread asking about that topic

I'm happy to agree to disagree on the naming of overdrive ratio ranges if it gets us off this topic. Now that that's over would you like me to share my resource for calculating all of this without using brain power? Might save you the dead reckoning, astral projection, or planetary divining that you were doing to come up with your numbers.
