That's all well and good, but even more interesting is that Chrysler has such a reputation for building shoddy crap that all of their underperforming early V8s were used under contract to the military to power sirens. Actually kinda neat to have a V8 siren, Spokane still has one somewhere. Ah Chrysler, never change, not because we don't want you too, but because you're historically unable to maintain a positive change.

 

Yes however, it was very well known that this was due to the undersized exhaust piping. If you just swapped to larger pipe, no other changes. It made over 500hp.

 

That motor was also a factory option in 1970 for a Torino complete with the infamous 'shaker' hood scoop. I had a friend who had one. It was a shaker for sure. Standing near by it you could feel the ground shake at idle. Was pretty amazing motor.

It was also thought that the published numbers were purposely listed that low for liability reasons. The real numbers would have made the car equipped with the 429 almost uninsurable if the correct HP was listed in the specs.

 

Yeah the whole reason it was in the 69 mustang was just to use the 429 in some race series. So they competely re did the entire front suspension on the mustang to fit it haha Definitely was a conservative number from the factory.

No way man. Electric cars are so awesome for their acceleration at any speed. Mind blowing, really.

They're so perfectly linear it's just meh after the first time. When the sun sets entirely on internal combustion engines you can just put me in the oven, I won't want to live anymore.

 

Until it has a hydrogen fuel cell in it....i could care less about them.

 

Actually hydrogen has great potential too, more environmentally friendly than electricity. But it didn't catch everyone's eye well enough the first time so it might not have it's stage for a long time
