Simple. Sleep is a pre existing condition or an addiction if you wanna look at it another way. If you ain't sleepin then you must be dead. No insurance required.

Called my insurance and they said they would cover all but the $50 copay if I did the $800 sleep study at the stand alone facility, not a.gospital.and without a CPAP involved in the sleep study. So I called back the sleep center fucking pissed and of.course I have to leave a message and wait to be called back as usual from my experience this far with them... I'm so sick of the run around.

WTF? That's not how any of my sleep studies went (turns out my sinus collapses when I'm horizontal - side effect of maxiofacial reconstruction). They connect about 30 wires to you to read all of your various electromagnetic impulses and impure thoughts, then you have to have a facial apparatus that measures the amount of air you intake and exhale, the whole time measuring frequency and sinus rhythm. It makes it hard to actually fall asleep, but once you do they know it (brain waves) and get good measurements.

Curious how they're going to measure inhalation/exhalation without the CPAP.

My sleep study had all that, but the nurse told me I wouldn't have a c-pap during the test. Just the hose measuring my breathing and all the sensors.

They can still get really good data from that. TRUST ME - if you have an apnea incident with all the sensors attached, they'll know. Your heart rate and breathing (sinus rhythm) will present in a very distinctive fashion, especially when you completely stop breathing for an 8-15 second span. Brain function also fluctuates just above REM, which also screws with you and makes you feel like you didn't sleep. Because you technically didn't.

Don't stress about it so much - these tests are a lot more accurate than you think. They get a lot of good data in their tests, even if you only really sleep for 2 or 3 hours in the test.

You missunderstood. I'm stressed because the sleep center told me my insurance wouldn't cover it and made me pay out of pocket for a different test. When I called my insurance they said they do cover the original test. So now I'm trying to back pedal but I can't reach the sleep center because they're in a meeting in the Woodlands this afternoon. I'd rather pay a $50 copay than $500. That's what I make in a week with 8 hours overtime. That's why I'm stressed.

I took this pic to post in the Asshole Parking thread and a lady came up to our door asking if we had a problem :rofl:

“no ma’am, I just thought it was funny so I took a picture. You’re parked on a sprinkler system. Have a good day”
