This intrigues me, actually. I've got a 6spd 2gen also....but I want to know how you're hitting 17-18mpg avg!! Do you have a canopy or anything? I think I'm pretty heavy vs the average truck.

265's are wider than 255's. there is no "technically" about it, straight up fact. Your graphic shows tire 1 (265) as 10.4" wide and tire 2 (255) as 10.0" wide. So yes, the difference is 0.4", but in favor of the 265 NOT the 255 tire....

265mm is greater than 255mm, which is what "265" and "255" represent.

My new wheels are 3 lbs heavier. Not sure what that equates to or how much it'll play a factor in MPG but I was just done with 10ply tires. My wheels were pretty beat up from my off road days so I figure I'd get a new set up when I switched to all terrain tires.

The distance of the weight from it's rotational axis is also a factor. So, it's not a simple as comparing 1lb here to 1lb there.

Gotcha. Well, I went from ~15mpg to ~18mpg with the tire/wheel change. Kidding lol I've gotten ~15mpg all my taco life (with my old 1st gen and this truck) and I stopped tracking many years ago. Just wanted to switch to an SL all terrain tire since I've only ran 10ply MT tires.

On a separate note: I still have my All Pro 1.5" wheel spacers if anyone wants them or else they'll end up in the trash.

I'm sure someone on this forum would be interested. Otherwise, recycle them. That's a good chunk of aluminum. :spending:

I don't believe that someone with 285s is getting over 20mpg. No one had claimed that much from what I've read. I run SL 265 and am lucky to average 19

Mine... anyone with an SSO slimline bumper interested in the stage II wings? Not sure I'm ever going to get around to installing these.

Asking $400. No savings here, but you get to skip the incredibly long lead times.

When I was running those fucktarded 285 C range wildpeaks I was still at 20 and some change on the freeway. 19ish commuting. with 45 pounds of air in them, of course.

I can't run psi that high. I tried 37 and got slightly better, but chalk tested then and I was way over inflated, runs correct at 32. Why do you call them fucktard, what didn't ya like?

I can vouch for those numbers but with a 285/70/17 load range E. At the 200mile mark the E light comes on and you better find a station quick because you'll be lucky to hit 260 miles before you're calling someone to bring you some gas.

I wont go to e rated, I will never push the truck that hard offroad so I'm not gonna waste the money on gas. I'll go to c or d rated possibly.

I think the cause of the rack and the cause of the rollover share a common factor...

Yeah in hindsight, it's overkill for what I do, but the extra sidewall strength is comforting when down at 8psi.
