Spicing up my steel SR rims... any ideas.

Love my truck and the most fun is making it my own.....

the SR rims are fine as is but I know I can make them better.....any ideas?

I was thinking maybe some plasti coat but I know some one here has a great idea

 

I have a great suggestion.

 

Vinyl wrap, powder coat, paint, plasti dip, or new wheels.

 

Leave em alone and put some beefy tires on to retain that utilitarian look. Plastidip is tacky imo.

 

Like putting make up on a pig.

leave em or replace em.

Imo they look good as is, AT tires will make them look even better.

 

A friend of mine has a truck exactly like yours. He painted his wheels semi-gloss black and left off the center caps. I think it looks pretty good with 265/75/16 AT tires.

I agree with Mrtacoman88. The silver steel wheels look good with AT tires.

 

Sharpie them in.

Beat way to dress up some wheels is a new set of rubber.

 

Plasti dip them. If you don't like it, peel it off.

 

Restyle them to look like a dodge neon without hubcaps, the broverlanding crew LOVES those steelies:

i have the same set of SR wheels. They are pretty heavy for what they are.

 

So why exactly is plastidip tacky? Is it just because it’s dipped or does that go for painting them too! If it’s just dip then that makes no damn sense- it looks like it’s painted and the only difference is you can peel it off if it looks bad or messed up I guess (can’t do that with paint). Now if it’s a shit job it doesn’t matter if it was dipped or not- it’ll look like crap regardless.

I weighted my options personally- I wasn’t buying aftermarket wheels, I thought about painting my stock sports black but thought if it turned out like crap I’d have a lot more time involved trying to fix it, then I seen a bronze dip and thought if it turned out like crap I can peel it off and erase the headache. So I bought the bronze kit but shortly after I found a decent deal on the t4r or wheels that I’ll try the bronze dip on instead.

I say do what you want but if I had the steelies they would have to be black and whether you paint or dip I dont think matters (just the time your willing to take for corrections or change your mind)

edit: I did look at powder coating but it is pretty pricey and not really cost effective at least for me

 

I don't care what the general consensus is, I am rocking the dipped wheels and have no issues with it.

 

That looks good on that color- black seemed too much for mgm. And btw maybe I don’t know the difference (actually never dipped anything before) but if you didn’t say it was dipped then I would of assumed painted.
