Just wanted to say thank you to the OP (Yoshio). The write-up was fantastic...this would have taken me forever without it. I used a dremel to cut off what was left of the corroded mount, had the antenna parts (from local toyota dealer - cheaper than Amazon) and all the panel clips (from amazon) ready before i started. Still took 2 hours, probably cause i was too lazy to take off the front wheel.

+1 One for the dremel method. Mine was loose enough I was able to carefully dremel around 2/3 of it and then just bend/break it off

What's the name of that watch tool? Can you just unscrew the bezel with that watch tool if it's not coroded?

Mine is loose which needs tightening up and the bessel is faded. I would not expect to replace entire antenna but just the nut and the Bessel right? Heck I might just be able to paint the bessel I have and just buy new nut.

Same question here - My antenna just was broke off flush with the nut. Do I need to replace the entire assembly or can I get away with removing the antenna nut and replacing with a new one?

Unless you can drill the bottom portion of the antenna nut out without damaging the threads I would say you'd need to replace the entire thing.

Just finished replacing mine. This post and this video of a guy replacing his antenna really helped. I was able to leave the fender flare on and just move the wheel liner after I took out all of the clips/screws. I used this tool to get every clip out without breaking any, along with a tiny flathead to push the locking arms of the clips together towards the center of the clip. Might have been faster to take of the fender but I didn't want to break anything else.

I had to replace the rusted out antenna awhile back. Had a hell of a time getting it off. I ended up using a dremel. I wish I had found this $5 tool before I started! It is a watch case wrench from walmart! fits perfectly in those grooves and will unscrew the bezel easily after spraying some penetrating grease in it. Hope this helps anyone avoid the shit storm I ran into.

Just purchased a 2010 Tacoma DC, came with no antenna, upon closer look can see 2 or 3 threads, hard to tell if any broken piece is in there. I am planning to get the antenna off my 07Tundra n try it in ..hope they are the same kind.!!!

    Hello,
    Great write up!
    Couple of questions:
    1) Is this the same on a 2014 Tacoma? Same part numbers? Same process?
    2) Do I have to remove the bezel nut completely OR can I just remove the flare / wheel well and then remove the antenna from the inside of the fender?

I have a 14 Tacoma with Nav. I broke my antenna off (after market short one) on a tree while offroading last weekend.
Piece of it stayed down in the mount. I tried everything to get the piece out, didn't work. I tried to get that NUT off, hammer and chisel, liquid wrench, etc. Nothing would budge that nut. Watch makers tool did nothing.
I ended up taking a dremel to it and sawing through it, but its still partially there and all mangled. I beat the antenna mount to hell and need to replace it.

If I remove it do I need to take the nut off or does it just slip out from inside the fender if I remove that 10mm bolt on the inside?

Just asking to see if I need to keep sawing through that thing with a dremel, or just remove the whole thing and replace.
I am planning on doing the full antenna, bezel nut, bezel, etc.

Under the rubber bezel, it appears that the nut connects to a larger metal base that looks larger and different then the pictures.
Is that a different part on the 2014?
Thanks a lot. This is been a mess.

Yep...broke mine off in the automatic car wash...been without FM for almost a year now...luckily I subscribe to XM but traffic and weather on local FM channels is helpful sometimes. thanks for the info, ordered my parts and will be getting this done in a few weeks if the weather holds

OP thank you for this post! Was able to cut off my old antenna, remove it and install all the new parts within 45 minutes with the help of this. I was radio-less for 12 months and finally decided to get this done, highly recommend in case anyone else is holding off lol

Has anyone ever been able to drill the broken portion of the antenna mast and get it out with an easy out in lieu of having to R&R the antenna portion under the fender?
