Should have kept some of the remnants of the other kitty in there as well. That helps them locate and understand what it means.

It's an older building, so it's just a pipe up to a basin, exposed underneath, where the box sits. I brought the box over to where he went today pawed at it while he watched. He's still a little skittish around unfamiliar things. I'll make it as comfy in there as possibly when I leave tomorrow. Hopefully he doesn't go stir crazy.

Lol. It's been about three and a half months since the last cat. Didn't think about keeping Kitty Roca around that long. :bananadead:

    Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Get some pipe insulation from Home Depot and wrap it around the pipe. That may help with any possible noise.

Considering I woke up this morning to find he used the litter box twice last night, I wouldn't be surprised to find him hovering over the commode one of these days.

Though, he didn't bury either his urine or poo. Maybe he's new to littler?

Was running late this morning so I didn't have time to coax him into the bathroom. Fingers crossed he keeps up with last night's success.

Been away from the site for the last couple of days and I’m just now reading about Monday’s horrible news. My condolences and prayers go out to you and your wife. I can only imagine how you guys were and likely still are feeling. With the new baby coming you’ll probably be so occupied that you guys will be able to focus on the happy times (and sleepless nights) to come. Sorry again Ryan!!!

50/50 today. Urine in the box (thank the kitty gods). Turds on the carpet (solid, easy cleanup). I'll be sure to get up earlier tomorrow to get him into the bathroom as calmly as possible. Making progress one day at a time.

You should put the poop in the box as reference.

Appreciate the kind words. It's been getting easier these last couple days but my wife especially still has a tough time with it every now and then when we're at home. Just feels like a piece of our family is missing and I think that'll take some time to adjust to. But youre right, we do have the baby coming in a couple months and that will definitely change things lol.

Last night Mai Thai was crying even louder than the night before, poor guy. Except also poor us because we can't get any sleep when he does lol. He will adjust eventually but it's sad to know he misses his brother. Was so tired today at work because he kept us up. I guess I should look at it as training for when the baby gets here
