8mm>7mm My favorite cartridge is the 8mm btw.

6.5 has been around since before ww2. The swedes and the Japanese used it in their battle rifles. Its only become popular recently cause people realised how flat it shoots, and remains supersonic out to extremely far distances. Usually 1200 or more yards in most cases. Companies started making cases for it out of popular .30-06 and .308 style cases, making rifle conversions really easy. It gets results, and is here to stay for the long run imo.

Now the .224 Valkyrie I think is a fad...

Its just another wildcat. Fills a niche in the industry that is really popular with the precision rifle series guys. Which in of itself as a sport has grown a lot over the last few years. Seems everyone and their brother wants to shoot for distance these days.
