Ooh very nice! Looks like good condition too. Birminghams were made in Taiwan. Taiwan is wherevthey still make quality manual machines.

I'd love to have a full size knee mill but don't have the room. I may get me a 2/3 size Bridgeport clone someday but my square column mill has done everything I have needed it to still.

The past couple days I've been working on a Birmingham becasue that's all the front office would put in the weld shop since we're so messy haha. The rest of the shop gets Bridgeports and the packing room gets an ACER. I like the Birmingham though, other than the belt drive head, that's kind annoying.

Nice. Ah so you got that machining job or whatever you were talking about?

Acer makes good machines too, also mostly Taiwan. They had a Sharp BP clone at the college, I loved using that mill. They had 3 BPs too but they were all clapped out. And they had a Ganesh POS BP clone, never got to use it cause that thing was always broken down. Ganesh is actually right down the street for me but not like I care about that brand.

Yeah, I mostly do fabrication and lots of welding, but sometimes my parts need machining too. I hope to transition entirely to machine work by the beginning of next year though. They're supposed to be hiring more welders eventually so I can be set free.

What did you expect? Have you not seen what it takes to do it on a tacoma? What made you think it would be easier on a 4 runner?

I was curious & did some searching. Can't tell from the pic but it sure does look like a Jet (brand) to me. Not a JMD-18 like I said earlier, those are the newer Rong Fu 31 style mills.

Yours looks like a Jet JMD-20VS. VS meaning variable speed. That's what the dial is at the top. No need for manually changing a belt to change speeds which is nice. Judging by the size of the cover on the top of the head, the variable speed is mechanical, should use a reeves drive which is basically like a cvt transmission. Pulleys changes size as you move the lever & changes speed.

Yours looks like in excellent condition, it's a keeper.

@Sperrunner Still looking for a M18 12.0 battery? Home Depot has a BF sale right now, it's live now, no need to wait for BF.

Buy a M18 12.0 high output battery for $199 & get a M18 8.0 high output battery for free. Both these batteries use the bigger 21700 cells.

Great deal for both the batteries but you can then also return the 8.0 battery & they'll give you like $86 or something like that back (depends on the HD location) so you'll end up with a 12.0 battery for just over $110.

I'm so itching to this but I don't really need a 12.0 battery & knowing me I may just end up keeping both batteries but I really canxt spend that much money right know on something I don't really need.
