Not to sound too corny but after our cat Maxine passed we were devastated beyond words and we provided no support to each other. We were both inconsolable. After a couple of months we both realized something was missing in our lives. We both felt a little guilt for wanting another cat to love and in some way it was a betrayal to Max but we realized she’d want us to love another cat and provide it a great life like she had. I’m sure your baby will fill some of that void but Mo will always be there one way or another. Max will show Mo the way and Luther will keep him safe.

There are some cats that won't pee and poop in the same box. 2 box cats.

Any old guys on here that milked cows by hand back in the day? Ever squirt a farm cat in the face with milk? :D

Yes sir! My grandpa even took the second load of milk into the first Kraft factory in Stockton, IL. and it was horse drawn. Our family held onto that wagon for decades and it now sits in the Kraft museum. It has three sets of initials carved into the underside it and I'll give you one guess who belongs to one of those sets of initials... :p

Not corny at all, I think it's only normal to mourn the loss of a pet because they are in fact a part of our family.

I've touched on the topic of future pets with my wife a couple times because I know how much she misses having Mo around because of how attached he was to her hip all the time. Harley is very affectionate when he wants to be, but because he lived with me first most of his life he's usually around me most of the time. Mai Thai was also my wife's cat but having a feral background, he spends a lot of time by himself. Mo was her partner in crime if you will.

I firmly believe people should take as much time as they need to mourn the loss, but with pets I also believe people shouldn't feel guilty about wanting to get another to fill that void that the other one left behind, if only because there are so many cats/dogs that need homes and loving families. Every time I go to the pet store to get more cat food I have to deliberately avoid the area where they have the cats and dogs behind glass enclosures because it makes me sad.

Mai Thai was much better last night. While we were watching Netflix he actually came out and sat on the couch with us for a bit, which was rare for him to do even when Mo was around. I think he wanted some attention to feel better, which is big for him. And last night he didn't do any crying until about 8am, which was his usual 'get up and feed me' time

After Albert passed last summer (max’s Brother) it didn’t take long for us to decide to adopt another boy kitty. We needed to put some balance back into our household as I was outnumbered by all the girls. The was another boy at the foster house that was recovering from being attacked by 2 dogs. He was crying so much and obviously wanting my attention. It was a heartbreaking day having to pick between the 2. Amos is a totally awesome cat but I think back and wonder if it was meant to be to take the other cat. His name was Napoleon and the wife and I decided if we took him we would call him Ole named after the founder of the city we live in. Think about that cat nearly every day. Guess he ended up going to Oregon
