Its because its Valved dead on for the truck and the type of shocks they use. and no the only thing I ever saw on the race teams trucks were different wheels. (Beadlocks) but other then that they were stock. I'm sure they had race radios but other then that nothing else. and that Decal is Gay. most people don't get it on the truck from what I have seen.

yup, sounds right to me. when you think about what you get when you buy a raptor it really isn't that expensive. your buying a built truck w/ a warranty.

it's not all susp either. you get a powerful engine, 4WD w/ locker that can be run in 2WD and the "off road" mode is bitchin too

with a few simple mods (wheels, deaver pack, air bumps all 4 corners) the truck would be even more amazing... i'm so sold on the raptor

I think the crew cab would be awesome, not as practical/capable as a shorter cab for offroad but more practical for the real world

Doesn't travel effect performance??? I can understand valving part but when talking about performance do u mean arms, SUA, gears etc?? I'm not as knowledgeable as y'all Hense the million questions lol...

The Raptor has 11.8" (or so) front travel. DOT has no regulations on the amount of travel a suspension can have, but a manufacture has to take into account payload, and roll over. Most trucks have about 8" travel, Stock in the front, and about 10-12 in the rear.

Awesome, another Raptor thread. Not sure how they're selling, but it's not like it was meant to be a high volume product for them. I've seen a few more than I've expected to see. As far as making the 6.2 standard, easy choice, seeing as how they have an entire new engine lineup for the F150 now and the 5.4 is being dropped from that. Not sure why everyone hates on it though. Don't like it and prefer to build your own vehicle like it, then don't buy it. It's like saying no one should buy a GT500, ever, because they should just throw a supercharger on a GT themselves.

I think the Raptor/Ford hating is the stigma of seeing too many BRAAAH F150's that are just lifted & raked w/the usual body & spacers.

I agree with you. A lot of people, not including myself, just want tp buy something "turn-key" and not have to figure out what parts to get and have installed etc. Basically its the same as some people buy a high-end desktop computer set, and some people buy it piecemeal so they can choose what brand of each component so it suits their needs. But most will just buy the package and save headache. What I'm trying to say is to each his own.

travel will affect performance because you need a susp that isn't going to bottom out over every hit and whoop. but travel numbers are worthless unless the shocks are dialed into the truck's and driver specs that will control the compression and reboud of the susp while it's working.

fox and ford got it spot on, and the raptor has almost 12" of travel which is enough for the weekend warrior crowd that ford geared the raptor towards, hell my TC kit is only 13"... and i know for a fact my shocks are not nearly as dialed in as they should be

Tons of them at this year's Primm. Solid chase vehicle for a lot of teams out there.
