No one wants to deal with Rachel's shit, it's easier to do what she asks and get her out of there asap.

I don’t understand . How is O3 affected by the use of these non conventional, non-halogenated, organic lubricants ?

    Oil is overrated anyways.......

    True story #2:

I’ve got a buddy who is a great guy, and an avid fisherman, but not very mechanically inclined. We were going fishing at a remote lake at the end of a deactivated logging road. My bud could not leave with us in the morning, but decided to meet us up there later in his wife’s newish Jetta.

He arrived at the lake fine but noticed the car was smoking a little and the engine was kinda loud. He asked if we could look at it for him. It took us a while before we figured out what was up. Turns out the drain plug has come loose, somewhere back on the logging road, and had driven to the lake with no engine oil. By the time he arrived at the lakeshore, all the oil was completely gone so there wasn’t an obvious leak. Being a VW, he never got a low oil pressure light, or at least he didn’t notice it, or understand it.

We took my truck and drove back to town and bought a new drain plug and a jug of oil. We drove back to the lake and filled the car with oil and he drove the car out.

The rub: he never told his wife, and she drives the car to this day. It’s always been a little smokey from that point on, but she accepts that, being that it is a VW.

I'm not sure you fully understand what eficiency means. It is NOT how much of the gas gets combusted. What your referencing is the thermal efficiency of the system. A gallon of gas has a specific amount of potential energy (chemical), you take it, combust it, and convert it to mechanical (kinetic) energy. In modern cars pretty damn near 100% of the gas gets combusted. The temperatures and pressures are different than they used to be, which makes different byproducts (diesels having higher Temps make more NOx for example, so do modern compression direct injection gas engines).

Take a good look at this article (ohmergerd!!! Wikipedia!!!) because this thread is interchanging stuff like combustion, carnot, thermal efficiencies.
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermal_efficiency

Again, what you are saying and what you mean to say are different things.

If you change something that is dirty. It is now clean. And filters have micron ratings. The fact that the oil changes color is a good indicator that contaminates smaller than the filter micron rating exist.

And by most definitions contaminates means unclean.

Thats why we recycle oil, just like rubber. It can be recycled.

By recycle you mean put it under a rock out back right? That is where it came from.

OMG, come on, this is basic common sense. Would you use oil after its been in a vehicle for 5K???? Maybe you would and maybe its even ok to use???? I'm not arguing about if it should be changed or not, but I think the majority will say new oil out of a bottle is cleaner than oil from a vehicle at 5K. I can't believe you asked that? There is moisture, combustion materials, and other pollutants. Once again, just to be clear I'm not saying its no good, just saying new oil oil of the bottle is cleaner than oil at 5K.

Talk about having too much time on my hands. . . .

Ok. For the risk of being flamed into oblivion. I am a fan of draining the factory oil out at 1000 miles.

I did just that on my newly purchased 2019 TRD OR.

I drained the sump into a catch pan, let it settle for the time it took me to drain the filter housing into a paper cup, change the filter, and complete the oil change.

I then poured the catch pan (which just had the sump oil in it, not the filter housing oil) into the empty bottles.

This was what was in the bottom of the pan. (each little spec is metal) So while it may not be needed. I do sleep just a little bit tighter knowing its changed early on the first oil change.

Yea, you recycle it back into the ground where it came from, the oil companies extract it and sell it again. It's the circle of (oil) life.

What a lot of people don't know about recycling is the market has went to shit in the last few years. While it might feel good to haul your single sort recycling bin to the curb every week it's likely getting landfilled anyways because weak market or contamination.

Well we did learn despite thousands of dollars in off road mods, change that oil like you only drive it to the mall.

I wonder what the poser ratio is?
