You are wrong, believe me, I have been asked for proof on this forum. I know a person where vehicles are assembled and they are assembled and put in the car, and then started. Do you think a manufacturer would put every engine on a dyno? That would cost way too much for an every day truck. Maybe for a motorcycle, but not for a car company that sells hundreds of thousands of vehicles every year. No way. Just google and watch some youtube car assembly videos. As for your quality assembly, each part is inspected BEFORE its put together so it should run when its started....

If you provide proof I will gladly apologize, but I think almost every manufacturer puts in the engine and yes, cross fingers and start. If it pops its pulled off the assemble line and changed.

I like the idea, but like anything else people have messed it up. The contamination and low price issue got so bad our city removed all the single sort bin drop off points.

A lot of used oil is going straight into the oil wrestling market. Especially the 0W20 Toyota oil, since its basically clean after 10k miles.

I don’t support this. It needs to be more widely known. Might start a change.org to help these ladies level up in life.

I can attest to this as I have seen it on numerous vehicles at first oil change. I did change mine relatively quick as well, always do for the first one. One thing that should be noted is many who say our oil filters catch everything down to XX microns, why did this oil filter not catch this?

It lands squarely at the feet of Toyota, and Mr. Lube. They need to step up.

Because gravity took it right to the bottom of the pan, where it stayed until drained.

Not to argue, but when you are driving and your engine is spinning, how do you know its not floating all around? I can see it for the drain out, but when the vehicle is running its probably getting all mixed up.

I don’t know that, but I trust Toyota has thought about it. Those are pretty big particles. If they were ending up on your piston rings, or in your bearing journals, there would be big trouble.

    Bingo.

This is the 4th new vehicle I have purchased and done a early oil change on and they all look the same.

    2013 WRX
    2016 VW Jetta (Wifes)
    2018 VW Tiguan (Wifes)
    2019 Tacoma

Each one had the sparkles on the first change. Not saying it has to be done. Obviously people don't change their oil early and don't have issues.

But knowing its in there. . . and knowing the cheap cost of an oil change. . .

Its an easy decision for me.

No flaming from me. My Pro is at the dealership right now for an oil and filter change with 1,008 miles on the odometer. The service writer said a request for an oil and filter change at 1k miles is not uncommon even though it’s not covered under the complimentary 2-year/24k mile maintenance plan (vehicle has to be at least 5 month old). They are also going to realign my crooked rear bumper under warranty (common on 3rd generations) and repair a creaking noise on the front drivers side that occurs only when off-roading over large dips and bumps.

There’s still people coming in to seriously argue one side or the other. I think that’s cool. It’s an issue that might yet be resolved. Toyota might even be monitoring the thread for marketing purposes.

I get your point, but what I meant was your engine would be in immediate trouble, if the oil jets were spraying that oil on the piston sleeves, full of particles. That can’t be happening, or we’d all have smokey engines, like as if we bought a VW.

I agree with you 100%, I just don't blindly trust manufacturers, maybe there is a tolerable limit? Not sure. I know for the Corvette Z06 (I think it was 2015), there was some engines that popped early. There was an investigation done and the particles were above the allowable limits, now they recommend the first oil change at something like 500miles just to be sure all shavings and stuff are out. I know GM is not Toyota and those that had engine failure got new engines, but I would not want a tech to rip out a new engine and put in another one.... Just saying

I will confess I did an early oil change on the first interval.

If the particles are getting circulated, they end up in the filter. If they're not, then they're just hanging out in the pan where they won't hurt anything.
