That’s kind of my beef with electric cars and the whole supposed 90% efficiency thing, the coal or propane the power plant is burning to produce that electricity is not producing at that 90% rate. I’m not opposed to the technology it’s just impractical for where and how I live.

 

Lithium mining and refining for the batteries isn't exactly vegan kosher either haha

 

That's my biggest beef. The battery pack are HORRID for the environment on so many levels and they don't last long. So you have to pay a shit load to replace it in 8 years or so. Freaking crazy. Look how old our trucks are. I'd be like replacing literally the entire drive train every 8 years. And then its just a giant bad battery floating around....

Not on board with them. Can't support the cause. All for new resources and such..but this isn't the right answer.

 

hell the 2013 rav4 i had for a while was snappy as hell. All gearing.

It's literally a prius haha the worst looking thing I've seen for a new car ever probably.

Rivian will be the choice if the price is competitive because it has a 400 mile range. The cybertruck range is 250 miles for the 'prerunner' version. So that is kind of lame but the price is $40K. The AWD version will be $50K.

For me, range and performance are way more important. Not based on looks. Really?!!!

 

Nuclear is the way to go in my opinion.

 

There has been more talks I’ve seen about the tundra getting a hybrid version than the Tacoma that I’ve seen. Also losing the v8 and going twin turbo v6.

 

The 2021 Rav4 will be interesting. Second fastest 0-60 in the Toyota lineup lol

There are many fundamental design element differences between a a full EV like a Rivian or a Tesla and a hybrid or even a plugin hybrid.

Personally, I am not a fan of CVT type transmissions to begin with. And I have trouble picturing a cvt with a transfer case with low range.

 

Sorry but that thing isn't a truck. It's a streched prius and doesn't even have a real bed. It isn't a truck. haha more of a Ute.

Think you'd even need a low range gear box with an EV? The Rivian I think has a motor per wheel. With the torque on electric Im not sure they would bother.

I think you're wrong. A Rivian is very much a truck.

And a true EV does not need low range, because instant, 100% torque of electric motors. However, the low range discussion wasn't about an EV, it was said in conjunction with a CVT transmission, so a gas powered motor as a hybrid or a plugin hybrid and those are gas motor first.

But I'm sure you knew that and just had trouble clearly conveying your thoughts.

 

Toyota only pairs the cvt with its hybrids as far as I know. I have no idea on other brands.

You quoted something that talked about the Rivian first and did not specify which you were referring to.

And I think the look of the cybertruck could grow on you. After seeing it a few times, it reminds me of an F-117...
