Need help with tire and wheels today....

I see that NTB is having their tire sale again (buy two and get two free) and that Pirelli Scorpion ATR is included in the sale. Right now I have a 2009 TRD on stock rims and no lift. I have already purchased the Toytec 3" OEM lift but instead of the Toytec shocks I got the 5100's. I have also purchased new UCA's and all of this stuff is in my storage unit waiting to install which I was planning on doing in January but if I can save myself $500 on the tires I may move to buy the tires and wheels now.

I said wheels because I plan on buying the 17" Moto Metal 950 (17x8 6/5.5) and install the Pirelli's on them in the size of 285/70 R17. I have done a ton or reading and I assume that I will have to do some trimming to make this work which is ok, just don't want to do a TON of trimming.

Will this setup work and what kind of problems might I encounter?

ya.. you will need to trim some plastic off of the inner fender well. also, you will need to remove your front mud flaps. if you do alot of off-roading and you compress the suspension alot, you may find yourself trimming more.

with you also getting new UCA's, you shouldnt find yourself having any other probelms.

 

This is an ok, but not a great deal because to get the buy 2 get 2 deal you have to have an alignment and they charge 109.00

I was checking out your build, sweet truck and nice color choice!

I see that you went with a 16" rim and your tire size was a 285/75 and that is actually one of the tire size choices that I have. I actually called NTB and the 285/70/17 isn't available so I might have to go with the 285/75/16 like you did. The moto metal wheels you got are 16x8, 0 offset, 4.5 backspace and the 950's that I'm looking at are -6mm Offset, and 4.25" backspace. My understanding of offsetting and backspacing isn't the best but to my understanding that after you take into the consideration the 6mm offset and backspacing of .25" less than your wheels the 950's would stick out a little more than a .25" further than yours do. Does that sound about right? Would this cause me more or less rubbing issues?

The guy told me that I could do the alignment at anytime and after I put on my lift I'm going to have to get an alignment anyway.

 

0 offset and 4.5 backspace should be close to the same as -6 offset and 4.25 backspace.

we are only talking about a few millimeters here
