    Stock as shit!

My god, a 160lb doe. That would be a pretty decent size buck here. I don't think I've ever shot a mature doe that weighed over a bill. I think it has to do with the heat. They don't have enough time to pack on that weight before it gets hot again. They could eat all day long here and not get that big. We have 5 feeders and tons of acorns on our land also.

thats about the top end for big do here, I think we've had some bigger but didnt weigh them. Bucks can range up into 200's here, wife's first Idaho buck was a small 6pt and it was 175lb

part of it they are grain fed in the fields here. Plus cold winters, this last doe she got was in a field but didnt have a lot of fat for some reason. Ive seen some with a big layer of fat on them by now. I still have to get a deer myself so see what I come up with.

This doe silhouetted me today and didn’t move for 30 minutes. I took a picture of her through the binoculars too. She’s at 170 yards. If I had my rifle I probably would have shot her and donated the meat. Our processor takes deer donations and doesn’t charge anything and gives the meat to needy people. This other small buck came in too. Saw 6 different deer today.

the state is supposed to start doing something like that for donations but nothing yet. So for now if we have extra we give it out to needy people ourselves not people that are ungrateful for the meat...that pisses me off.

People come in our store all the time and say “I’ll take a shoulder if you got one” lady told my wife the other day if we had an extra bag of jerky she’d take it. What? I don’t mind helping people but hunting ain’t free and neither is processing, lol. Keep in mind the people who want this meat for free are usually buying lottery tickets and cigarettes. We do give some to people we know though.

Yeah we get that here, some are like well we dont like deer meat, do you have any elk? Like no suckers. Elk is hard to come by here, just due to hunting pressure. Plus not to mention all the time and effort to get the animal...
