@wileydavis maybe you have some pictures or idea of where to install this on a 3rd gen taco?

You can run the wire down behind the lower center console and hook it up to the wires that power the cigarette lighter.

I ordered one too but didn't know how it was powered. Does this require moving the dash to get behind the console? Will there be instructions?

No detailed instructions. The puck comes with a cable with bare wires at one end. it needs to be wired in to a 12v source. Most folks tap into the cigarette lighter wires behind the console there. I wired mine up with a cigarette lighter plug so I can loan it out to folks to try, so you could do that as well.

Is it possible to splice the wires from a cig plug, solder it to the ends of the wire that come from the mount, and plug it in that way to the cig plug? Do I need to keep the inline fuse? I don’t really want to remove the dash

Thanks! I’ll give it a try. I’m not good with wiring and am hoping to find a vid or pictures. do I just connect black to black and red to red? It came with a 5amp in-line fuse, can I just bypass that if I’m going to the lighter since I’m sure that has a fuse?

Very easy install, ran the wire through the middle of the vent and soldered the leads to the back of the cigarette lighter. Awesome setup, worth every penny! And yes keep the inline fuse

Just to be clear, through the air vent right? Did you have to remove the dash/stereo or were you able to just remove the lower part where the disks are to access the back of the cig lighter where the wires are?

I pulled the radio trim/vents, ran the wire through the front of the vent. There’s a hole near the bottom left corner of the radio you can run the wire through without having to remove the radio or any major components. And then like you said remove the lower part to access the back of the cigarette lighter. All of the easy to remove panels thankfully! Just make sure everything goes back together the way you like it and looks right before soldering, I made that mistake lol

thanks! Yeah I lost radio function after pulling the dash and radio out to install my Tech deck thing and don’t want to have to take the radio out again, that was a PITA but maybe since I have a real garage and tools I’ll give it another go. Thanks for the input!

I made it so that it has a 2 pin molex connector and I just plug it in whenever I need it. The wire retracts into the dash so I can hide it than pulls out when I need it

can you loan me one so that I can try it out? I haven't decided where I want it mounted yet so it's key not to hard wire it somewhere at this time
