I have no loyalty to either brand. I simply hope ford pushes Toyota to up there game as I do PREFER Toyota in general.

I'd sooner buy a Ridgeline or Frontier vs a Ranger. I'm sure a number of f150 buyers consider the Ranger until they see the price and end up leaving in another f150.

You are comparing top of the line ranger to a base f150

Man, I don’t know what to think about that Tesla truck. On one hand, it’s crazy! LOL But on the other, $40K is fairly reasonable.

The times, they are a changin’

Go back and read my previous posts, beside Amazon’s gem thread. That thread is dangerous. I simply hope Toyota ups there game due to ford. Do you see me bashing Toyota? No. I am a Toyota fan from the get go

Let's regroup in 15 years and compare our trucks then, ok?

I know, my truck will still be 4 years older than yours, but I think it will be an interesting conversation- for me at least.

Turbos are not different in their construction or lubrication between the two engine principles, so the turbos themselves are not part of the reliability equation.

Anyways.......there is absolutely no inherent reliability issues with any engine design that was not specifically chosen as a compromise or cost savings by the engineers of the product. You can make a weak-assed shitty diesel (VW) or a strong and reliable turbo-charged gas motor (Toyota), and end up at the same place.

Ford is fucking current Ranger owners. You can howl all day long on Tacoma World about Tacoma owners sniping at you, in the meantime, the big blue oval shoved their big blue thumb up your collective asses....and if you had read the press, you knew it was coming.

You bought a $40K truck that was a warmed over rehash of an old design....and there is no harm in that provided that the manufacturer doesn't fuck you by releasing a new and predictably much better model in less than three years. Congrats - Ford did just that. In a year or so, Ford will unveil a clean sheet Ranger with a better powertrain. You all should have waited. Even on Ranger forums, your trucks will be laughed at.

Now I know where some of you will go with this: "But, but, but the third gen is a warmed over second gen. Mewl, squawk, squawl."

No shit. It has been discussed ad nauseum that Toyota is about slow change, extended model generational lifecycles, small incremental updates and keeping it relatively simple. That is why first gen, second gen and yes Irene, even third gen Tacomas hold their value...as do 4Runners.

Introducing an outdated "new" model and them tossing it away after two years for a "real" new model is akin to having a colonoscopy without being put under. You're all going to feel every twist and turn of that scope as the press, the forums and the owners relegate the Ranger 5G to the automotive shit chute. Deal with it.

My advice, stop trying to defend this - realize what Ford just did to you and learn from it.
