As for the question regarding if you need to use the film or not on the Windshield. My Vendor mentioned that for those that install Windshield Tint, you do not need to place this film over the top of your Tint. You should be fine with using just your windshield tint and it will show the color of the HUD. However, the Windshield itself, will most likely not reflect the color just by itself without the Film installed on the Windshield.

Just curious if you have a rough estimated time frame on having the HUD on hand and ready to be ship? Like....1 month, 2 weeks or 6 weeks?

I personally would not want this.
One, they already sell this type of HUD by the millions on Amazon, Ebay, etc.
Two, have a phone on the dash during a hot day is not good idea.

Also a speed bump, pothole, etc. can make your phone a projectile.

This is an interesting thread but as I just ordered a SpartanX hood scoop light I am going to step back on this.
Still keeping an eye as I love the concept

 

I keep my iPhone sideways mounted off a Scoche mount in the space, probably mirrors this setup view fairly well. I feel the upcoming hud would view well. Now just need that WiFi mirroring unit for Waze and I’m golden!

 

This looks almost identical to the one I purchased from Hudway a bit back, the plastic piece that tilts up, the base, the cut of the plastic shield, and even the diagram all look the same. Hudway included a neat little token piece that unlocked the software HUDS it came with. Your phone sat in the tray and the screen tilts up. I thought this one had a lot of promise and maybe combining it with what your doing will finally put it all together for a great product.
I’ll could take some photos of it and post them. It seemed for every thing it fixed, it added a new problem. Like the base being too tall, and flat, to hold the phone. It was very hard to get the right angles, between the base unit and the screen. But keep in mind this was a universal type hud and just didn’t work well with the angles and space on a Tacoma windshield. Not to mention the defroster. The Software it came with, three or so editions and versions of HUDs, like Hudway, Hud widgets, Hudway go, and Sygic. All were pretty bad save for Sygic. When I did get the angles, and Some good software in nice spots it would lead to another problem. Like at night, no matter how dim the phone setting, it would reflect on the screen really nice but then also appeared on the windshield...aaauurrggghhh
I did keep it all and hoped to find someway to make it all work someday.
I hope you and your vendor will make the ultimate Tacoma HUD someday, I would buy it in a heartbeat..
