Oh I’m sorry, I must have missed your amazing award wining revolutionary scientific discovery on 60 minutes. But I’m from planet earth, my bad.

“Most internal combustion engines are incredibly inefficient at turning fuel burned into usable energy.
The efficiency by which they do so is measured in terms of "thermal efficiency", and most gasoline combustion engines average around 20 percent thermal efficiency. Diesels are typically higher--approaching 40 percent in some cases”
    https://www.greencarreports.com/new...ine-achieves-thermal-efficiency-of-38-percent

And the subject of this thread is how soon to dispose of the remnant waste leftovers that can harm your very expensive engine.

As far as I’m concerned the sooner the better, wouldn’t you agree??

For me I’ll take the safer road 5K miles -
But the factory is allowing you to go a maximum limit of 10k if you drive under ideal conditions (whatever that is) and still honor any engine damage you may incur for the entire 60k mile warranty. After that, it’s your problem.
And btw, welcome to plant earth

    Hope that helps

    Cheers

Next can we argue about whether Die Hard is Christmas movie or not?

I think we all know the answer to this. The real question is, how often are you supposed to change the batteries in your TV remote?
Do you just wait till they are dead, or do you do preventative maintenance and change them if they need it or not?

A Tacoma is a big investment, by comparison oil isn't "that" expensive. 5k for me if for no other reason than for piece of mind.
Just reached 20k and oil change number four. Works for me!

Die Hard is the best Christmas movie ever, even though it was released in the Summer.

Personally I toss the batteries on the charger and put in freshly charged ones when remote performance declines.

Thanks for the tips. I should clarify, I had to get to work but my ass wasn’t cooperating. It’s more of a timing issue.

Can’t take a chance as I’m always on a tight schedule. This week the schedule was abruptly changed.

I just stocked up on rotella light truck 0w20 because it's 21 a jug plus a 10 dollar rebate on each one. So both our vehicles are getting that for the next few changes.

Using oem toyota/Lexus filters, of course.

But how good can it be at 11 bucks a gallon? I thought that oil has to be expensive to be good.

Ahh the quest for the cheapest walmart oil and simultaneously lengthening oil change intervals....

    True story:

I change my oil early. I NEVER change the remote batteries. Those bitches get turned around and around and they keep going. When the remote stops working, I throw it or smack it and that wakes the batteries up.

IMO, it depends upon how many miles you put on it. I would never go more then a year. Wife’s Venza with 10 k oil change intervals gets changed much more often as her car seldom gets 10k per year.

I used Castrol Syntec in my 1st and 2nd Gen Tacomas, using Castrol Edge in my 3rd. Been using Castrol for a long time and in the wife's Subaru's as well, absolutely no complaints with no noticeable break down or performance issues.
    I'm a believer.

And here I though we were going to argue if he had changed the oil on his shirt, the movie could have ended sooner with less wounds on his back

That would be an even longer argument than this thread :anonymous: :argue:

Did your batteries come with full instructions on when to replace the oil on them before they died?
