Going with my if it ain't broke, don't fix it philosophy, of course I wait until they're dead. Then I smash the remote in a fit of rage. Buy a new one; rinse and repeat. It's just common sense, why waste all that time messing with batteries...

This thread isn't arguing. It's the back room at chuck-e-cheese with all the kids flinging pizza while the adults take turns facepalming. (And I love it)

I like to change them out when I change the smoke detector batteries. It's like a battery swapping party on daylight savings days.

Today is a new day. I've decided to go battery free. Throwing out all remotes in my house to lower my carbon footprint.

Are you deliberately misunderstanding? So thermal efficiency and oil contamination is a direct relation? Going by your logic, these new Toyota engines would be half as hard on oil compared to a conventional engine, because the thermal efficiency has doubled. Are you aware that our vehicles, like a wood burning stove, have an exhaust system?

Does the EGR valve take all the exhaust gases and filter them through the oil before reaching the intake manifold?

The EGR valve is to lower combustion temps, or so I've just read.

Thank god. I was worried Toyota was letting my combustion contaminates be released into our air rather than my oil.

As others have mentioned, modern synthetic oil breaks down anything and just cleans itself and the motor.

It’s there to direct the blow by gasses back into the cylinders where they again become blow by and are directed through the egr until you shut the engine off
