I replaced the OEM Raptors with Westin 21-22775 Pro Traxx 4" Oval Step Bars. Why Westins? I had similar ones on my Tundra for 12 years and when one of the plastic steps broke at about year 9, Westin replaced all 4 under warranty.

Raptors are FS in the DFW area if anyone local is interested. I just found them less than functional - but look cool.

Nfab Epyx...I like the individual steps and that they sit a bit lower. Easier for an older guy like me, with bad hips, to step in. Love the looks. Around $300.

These running boards prevent our car door from hitting the truck, I know from experience. They are aluminum with rubber tread pad surface and fit up tight and close to the truck.

Do you have to use a thread locker with the bolts at installation? To ensure they will not get loose? Thanks

You don't need to. Everything fits tight. I used to swap predator steps for sliders once a year and never found a loose bolt.

Edit - I think the OEMs are called "Preditors", not "Raptors".

Finish on what - the OEM Predators (textured black) or the Westins (flat black powder coat)?

[Sorry for the thread-jack; I wouldn't ship the OEMs anyway.]

I just bought a set of the Cast aluminum Toyota boards off of a member here as take offs when he moved on from his Tacoma. I spent $325 and drove an hour each way. Love them.

My thought is that a Tacoma is not tall enough to require steps. I do use my rock sliders as a step, but I think it was actually easier to get in and out of the truck previous to installing them. But then again my sliders were not designed to be a step and are only slightly lower than the rocker panel. Lower steps might work better, but I’m a bit skeptical they are really needed. I’m 5’10”.
