This Thread was dead, a Ranger guy made it active again by posting some horseshit Consumer Reports article.

just got around to read the numbers.. entire segment is rising...and the ranger and gladiator are taking share. i guess that just indicates we can expect more threads on how to transport a tv in the bed

34 out the door isn't bad that's about what an extra cab stx 4wd f150 was going to cost me at future ford. I'm happier with the tacoma though. Of course if I could have afforded a lariat with the 20" wheels and 3.5 Ecoboost I'd have bought it in a heartbeat.

The 150 felt big ! The Tacoma was my choice for the quad cab ,til I drove the ranger ! To each his own If I bought the Tacoma I would of needed the trade in value in a year!

I was looking at the Ranger before I looked at the Tacoma. The ranger is a nice truck. it in my opinion is not as handsome and rugged looking, its more softer and refined looking. the ride is harsher than looks would lead you to think. The engine is very peppy but I have reservations about how trouble free that turbocharged engine is going to be long term. Ford previously had issues with ecoboost. I didn't think the inside was as nice. sure the seats were comfortable enough. the radio was that panasonic Ford sync, not really a fan and the base radio setup was horrible. you had to pay more for ford sync3 to get the nicer unit that compares to the tacoma's. the HVAC controls were a mess of buttons, I just like simple dials that are simple to use. Everything just about is extra on the new Ranger and you really have to pick and choose to get a low price. Towing package and bed liners are extra cost while Toyota includes it. adaptive cruise and lane keeper is part of a tech package that's pricey and only on XLT and up. Only front collision avoidance comes standard on Ford. If you want a truck in double cab in this size class Tacoma to me in SR5 trim is a better over all package than Ranger XL or XLT, you just have to make too many compromises to get the price you want with Ford and options there add up fast. Well that's my take on it from a potential buyers view.

this kind of comment is mind blowing to me given the craptastic transmissions this generation continues to ship with.

The ranger is a bit more fun in a straight line I didn't like some of the interior buttons though. I also lucked out a bit by finding a used Sport with all of the options for less than what a newer SR would've cost me. That and I trust Toyota more than Ford even with some of the issues (Toyota) has.
