Temperatures in Valley are expected to reach between 104 to 105 degrees, about 9 degrees hotter than normal, through Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
Expect a gradual cooling trend beginning on Sunday with a high of 103 degrees and continuing into Monday with a high of 102.
It could be close to next Wednesday before temperatures drop below 100, meteorologist Charlotte Dewey said.
There is no expected precipitation in Phoenix for the week.
Phoenix's spike in temperatures is part of the same heat wave that is hitting California, Utah and Nevada, Dewey said.
Temperatures in Los Angeles are expected to reach 109 degrees Monday and high temperatures in Las Vegas are expected to be around 103 degrees throughout the week.

I'm thinking of coming out to Phoenix to cool down! It was 109 at my house and 53% humidity. It sucked!
