The buttons match the order of how they show on the display. I don't see the problem.

    Volume Up= UP button
    Volume Down= DOWN button
    Track forward = FORWARD(right button)
    Track Back= BACK(left button)

Just because it's layed out on the Stock radio incorrectly doesn't mean the steering wheel has to be. Every other car I've driven is layed out like this.

I get that it's different. But so is the toggle for the wiper delay, took me a couple times before it was a new habit. Same on the change for the volume.

On the rav4 that's in our garage, it has two up and two down buttons. Looks like they ran short of space on the Tacoma wheel, so they adopted the up down for the station change as it would be very strange if that didn't line up when looking at the screen.

Cool that you're going to make a solution for people that are really bothered by it though.

Not hard to learn a new interface on something. Just saying. Adapt. It makes sense how you guys want it arranged but how is hard is it? Took me maybe 1 day of driving.

Always somebody saying don't do it. Yes, I could adapt, but I'm also capable of making the adaptation to the vehicle. Choose what suits.

Can you scan radio stations using the steering wheel buttons?

I'm fine with the way it is. If it was the other way, I'd be fine with that too. It's all arbitrary anyway, you only think something "makes sense" one way because that's what you are used to.

If whoever designed shit in the beginning had CCW for volume up, it would be weird to have CW do it.

Break free of your chains of habit, and embrace a different way of interacting with your world.

If the Tacoma was the only vehicle I would have to drive, sure..I'd deal with it. But there are 2 other cars I drive frequently that have the volume in the correct orientation. It becomes muscle memory. Then I get back in the Taco and have to remember to push bassackwards. If I can create each vehicle to be consistent, why not?

The Subaru forester in my garage is almost exactly the same. Same Clarion (I think it's Clarion) radio user interface interface. Same steering wheel button locations except it's "the right" way.

Oh ya... I forgot about that. backwards from the forester. On both the forester and taco it's move the stalk down for intermittent. On the forester I visualize rotating the portion of the knob closest to me down for more aggressive. then when I bottom that out I move the stalk down another notch for constant low speed. The taco has the variable part all backwards.

I cannot tell you how many machines I could operate on any given day so maybe I'm asking alot to expect an easy transition between peoples operating habbits. I operate stuff like backhoes, skidsteers, ditch witch, tractors, agricultural spray tanks, etc all with different gear boxes, operating with their own "interface". You can guarantee I have the annoyances with certain machines but it hardly is as trivial as something like you're experiencing. For example it is more along the lines of manually getting a tractor in and out of low and high to hit certain rpms and speed for my PTO attachments. But more power to you if you want to change it. :oldglory:

This is the same argument I have with my buddies that live north of me, they say come down and see us, and even my friends south, say come up and see us. WTH!

Agree totally... turn the volume sideways has one saying does he mean crank it? Or worst go down to that last track again it rocked....
This is just plain weird man!

Just adjust the wires on the connections at the head.

On my sister-in-laws old HiFi that powers our record player, you turn the big knob right for louder, left for quieter.

Now the funny thing is, we say "turn it up" even though we actually turn it right

You should be able to repin the buttons at the steering wheel itself if someone manages to take the assembly and rotate it to their liking. Swap the wires over the way you did the buttons and then there's no need to do anything else. It would actually be a really easy mod to do.

All we have to do is look at the top right corner of our 7"screen radios. There it is...... Seek songs forward and backward, which make the steering controls wrong right?

You can’t they are all on a circuit board and have 1 wire output(data). You would have to cut and resolver traces on the control board itself. Just not worth it imo
