I thought the photos of this truck represented some silly prototype, but no this is going to be a legitimate truck...

Props to Elon for completely shattering the norms here. This thing will revolutionize automotive styling/design, I predict.

    And shattering the windows out

I thought the thing was cool AF but probably not something I'd seriously buy. It looks like a movie prop.

The fact that it is so different, and actually somewhat affordable, makes me think demand will be insane for it.

$50k or $70k for dual motor. That's a lot still for some people but not outside the realm of what full size trucks are going for these days. The style is very futuristic indeed.

Agreed. The styling is absolutely bananas....

It's an interesting strategy to say the least. If sales on it take off, I can see the rest of the truck industry producing similar bold designs.... cars and crossovers would likely follow suit.

It reminds me of a Pontiac Aztek, can't really see that styling becoming popular but I could be wrong.

Don’t quite have to wait that long for the 16 Tacoma’s. Current owners are bashing themselves all together

Nothing will make you hate your truck more than a modern turbo diesel motor.

The complexity, expense and maintenance costs of dealing with def injection systems, dpfs, egrs, coked up turbos, fuel dilution, etc. has taken the love out of owning a turbo diesel truck.

We have three new Lariat 4WD Rangers at work. They go like stink, but are shit boxes through and through. Not half as well put together as our F150s. Interior sucks and looks cheap, even on the higher level trim. Throttle is herky-jerky, but lots of power for sure. If you grab a tire with the truck in park, you can literally roll the whole truck back and forth over a foot due to horrendous slop in the drivetrain. I give ‘em all three years before they grenade.

We bought 5 for errand trucks. XLT trim. Your assessment is spot on. They ride like shit, the engine and tranny are fine until you get to cruising speed, then they face plant.

I’ll repeat it again. The all-new clean sheet Ranger due out in a year will be the truck that we deserve....not this placeholder that’s currently on sale.

I believe Ranger has been doing very well overseas during the period that was discontinued in the US. In hindsight, that was a poor decision by Ford and lost opportunity to build a strong model recognition in the US. They were probably all about the F-150 flagship, but lost sight of the fact that there are a crap load of people wanting a capable mid size truck.

Up there is why I am bailing on diesel power with the next vehicle. I love my Liberty CRD and with the proper care it's Italian turbo diesel engine has been good, just not the automatic transmission. It how ever in a 2006 and is saved from all those new emissions systems that do break down. They are very complicated and not really reliable while under warranty so imagine how expensive it's gonna be when they break out of warranty.... Good bye to all the money you saved with better fuel economy. IMO new diesel engines are best left to the big rigs unless you tow something really heavy. I want something that's going to last and be dependable. Something id keep over 10 years, why going to replace the Jeep with a Taco.
