We saw about 8-10 deer strikes coming from MD to MA on Friday. 2 fresh kills in CT on 15 causing us to take measures avoid an accident. I’ve seen a Ton on 140/70 on my way to work at night. Keep the speed down and dashcam on.

College roommates dad did. The long range one.

Here is my take on this truck:
Is it crazy as all hell looking? YUP. Is it something people haven't ever seen off a movie set and looks straight up like a concept car out of the 90's? You bet!

    GOOD:thumbsup:

People spend a lot of time bitching about how lame everything is and no one makes something wild and new...

Well here it is, and all people can do is to be a wise ass' about it.

I honestly don't like the looks of any truck out there besides the ram 1500 and tacoma. Everything else is blah or just doesn't do anything to make it move for me. I don't necessarily love the Tesla truck, and I won't probably own one. But I do appreciate that they went wild with it. So sick of the same old shit and every single truck maker doing the same ugly ass design "Look at our new bigger grille!".

I like fun, crazy and odd vehicles. This one checks those marks for me :crapstorm:

Honestly, the largest deal breaker on the cybertruck for me is the same deal breaker for all EVs. Availability of charging stations and time it takes to charge. The company I work for actually has about 40 chargers between our two campuses that are about a mile apart that are free for employees to use. However, they are all in use everyday and people 'steal' the charging cord from their neighbor all the time and people get so butthurt over it.

If I could go on a trip and easily have quick and convenient charging stations I would consider an EV. But waiting even 30 minutes for it to charge is a deal breaker for me. I can fill my tank up in less than 5 minutes and be set for 400 miles, the same can't be said for charging an EV.

I am "ready" for a plug in Hybrid, MAYBE a second car that's full electric, but not for DD. Also, since electric car in general cost a lot more, it doesn't make sense financially for my "around town" car to cost more than my DD either. Until they really speed up the battery charge speeds electric will be fighting an uphill battle.

The thing I like about electric is the acceleration and no noise. I am finding that while loud vehicles used to impress me, these days not so much. That said, I think how quiet they are is a risk, and they probably need some sort of noise maker on them for pedestrians and animals.

There are probably around 50 people at my campus that drive tesla's (probably about 100-150 total EVs/plug-in hybrids). They always freaking sneak up on you. I've seen so many times lately since the last big Tesla software update people walking out of the building and using the 'Smart Summon' to have their car pick them up at the entrance of the building. As cool as it is, I've seen it almost cause so many accidents.

If there’s more than one person using that feature at the same time how do the cars know what/who to yield to? Does it end in a stalemate clusterfuck?

I agree with the need for intentional noise. Road cycling is scary as hell when an EV sneaks up on you. I can’t take credit for the idea, but I think the “electric burble” the “cars” on the Jetsons used to make would be perfect!

The problem with Tesla's new tech is that you are literally testing it for them and helping them figure it out. So there have been lots of smart summons crashes so far, at least from stories I've read online. Luckily they are low speed.

@Rexfordian13 Those noises are funny. I think I'd want to kill myself after a day in it though  But yeah something needs to be done so they make some noise.

Not sure, haven't seen that. It's usually the tesla just doing its thing and a vehicle with a driver in it needs to make last second adjustments to avoid a collision.

For me, i’d be ok with an electric daily driver and it’d make a lot of sense for me. The problem is, I don’t necessarily want another vehicle so the one I own needs to tow. The Tesla truck will tow (probably has more power than my current truck and the air bags would be nice). But then it comes down to range. I’d imagine range while towing a 6k lb camper is under 200 miles for the long range model. I know you can map your trip with Tesla cars, but not a lot of the charging ports i’ve seen would be friendly if you have a trailer in tow... then, there’s the charge time issue where i’d be stuck with my whole family at whatever charging port for at least 20 minutes while the truck charges. That would make road trips a lot less enjoyable!

I agree about your statement about being new and exciting, I was actually really looking forward to a couple of the other concepts. I was really disappointed when they rolled this one out though... i’ll wait for Rivian.

You mean you wouldn't want to plug in to charge with a trailer at the Natick rest stop on the pike? That's be cake to get in and out of

Exactly, I'd either block off the whole charging bay or have to disconnect the trailer. Neither one seem like a good option.

Then, what if you like to camp outside somewhere in your truck with your rtt, you know, like some people here like to do? Better have a solar charger and hope for sun!

Saw a Army Green Tundra at the dealer today :drool:

Had to get out of there before I ended up doing something silly:evil:

I expect soon we will see solar panel covered vehicles.
