The body panels ought to be cheap to make. No curves or multiple press station stamping.

No side mirrors, even. I'm guessing cameras in their place but that just seems dangerous

Something about it reminds me of an air-cooled 1920 Franklin 9 series with the V-windshield.

A V windshield, lol that looks cool but I can't imagine that being good for visibility

They needed it for aerodynamics. I think it had a top speed of 50 to 60 MPH.

That one is older than my parents.. I know some people who are into Frankin cars so I went along to a meet up in Cazenovia NY one summer.

They had air-cooled engines using a lot of aluminum and copper. The company went broke during the depression in the 1930s. The cars were made in Syracuse NY.

The craftsmen and metallurgists who knew a lot about making engines went to work for the Carrier Company in Syracuse NY after the car company went broke and helped to usher in refrigerated air-conditioning. I guess because the car company folded, Carrier got the skilled people and went on to become a huge HVAC company.

Here's a slide show with pictures of the cars.

    Cool stuff.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrier_Corporation

    Syracuse, New York campus

Willis Carrier moved his facilities from New Jersey to Syracuse, New York in the 1930s. I suspect he moved there as the Franklin Automobile Company went broke to get the skilled metallurgists that knew about air-cooling engines.
