    While preparing for our first annual “Friendsgiving” in NC, I decided to crack open a 2018 Trader Joe’s Vintage Ale. Very dark, very Belgian, very delicious. I have a couple of this years vintage already.

    For this one, I used WLP940 Mexican Lager yeast. It's not quite as dark as it looks in the pic. Color is dead on with Negra Modelo. Taste is very close to NM, but just a tad too roasty. I used a half pound of domestic chocolate malt to hit the color, but next time I brew it I will sub in German dehusked chocolate in hopes that the roasty notes are more subdued. It's a nice beer, though.
