I think he's just a bit embarrassed and frustrated, hence the lashing out on the original post title.

Chapter 39 of the Texas Business and Commerce Code prohibits "buyer's remorse" refunds in all but a handful of circumstances. Retailers such as automobile salesmen and store merchants are not obligated to let you out of a contract or return your money if you change your mind about buying a product. Texas's laws regarding a consumer's right of rescission generally only pertain to door-to-door salesmen. If someone knocks on your door and sells you something, the law protects you if you act quickly.

Seems like an oversight by everyone. If you got a good enough deal, you could just take a small loss if you really need the sr5, but why bother. You said you were happy with the truck when you left, it’s the same truck as it was then, and it sounds like you got it for the price of an SR and not an SR5. You’ll be ready when you go to buy your next vehicle. Cheer up and enjoy your truck.

Don’t you have 3 days to break the contract in your state?

Texas does not have a "buyer's remorse statute" however Texas does have an OPTION PERIOD. That would give you as a buyer, the OPTION to back out of the contract within a number of days negotiated with the seller. Usually 5 to 10 days, but can be longer or shorter depending on what you can negotiate.

Be glad you aren't one of the people who bought an "Off Road" not realizing they make a 2WD OR.

Am I the only one thinking he got a great truck? I'd build a killer LT Prerunner with the SR! I personally prefer 4cyl anyway cause I work on my own stuff and it's less shit to work with.

The SR is a clean looking truck. If I didn't know any better, the only one that would raise suspicion would be the bearded one. Of course the no fog lights are a dead giveaway, but for someone that did no research at all, it would be easy to fall in love with some of those.

I had a 4cyl in my second gen SR 5lug AC, it was a great engine & a great truck.

I put 60k miles on the truck and it NEVER gave me an issue. I traded it on a more family friendly RAV4 Hybrid Limited. That truck will get you thru college and maybe longer if you take care of it. Enjoy your first truck. Be prepared to have people ask you to help them move & borrow your truck.

It’s going exactly how I thought. People jump to conclusions and say I’m ungrateful/spoiled/whatever. I’m merely stating the facts. The car was advertised as X, but sold as Y. The question was if I have any options. I’ve gotten answers.

It seems like people are a little sensitive and jealous. Yes, I got a really nice truck, bought by my parents. The salesman said it was x, but it was actually y. What’s so hard to understand about me wondering if there’s any options? Merely accepting the fact that I was mislead and doing nothing.... now that would be ungrateful, spoiled, etc. My parents spent money on a car for me. I don’t take kindly to having us mislead.

You must not be able to read. I clearly mentioned our mistake and acknowledged it. I’m not car savvy. I also clearly mentioned that I didn’t know what a vin number was. Now I do, now I realize that a vin number is something a car buyer would want to look up. Also, You insinuating that I don’t respect my parents is pathetic. If I didn’t respect them, I wouldn’t give two flying turds about being mislead because it’s not even my money that’s being spent.

What one salesman says does not constitute as being advertised as such. Even if it did say SR5 on their website, there is most likely a disclaimer stating they are not responsible for misprints. All they would have to say is it was a misprint.
So, short answer is, enjoy the truck you have and there is nothing further for you to do with the dealership. You can use any dealer for service/warranty needs.

Congrats on your new truck. Sucks if the dealer mislead you.

I bought a 2018 4 cylinder SR. I did because it was cheaper and because it is like a blank canvas. You can make all the mods and upgrades YOU want. Not be forced to pay for options you don't need/want.

I started the thread to question whether or not I have options regarding the situation. Not to “bitch about my mistakes” buddy. If you could read properly, then you’d recognize that I acknowledge my mistakes and learned from the situation.
If I were to merely accept the fact that we were mislead, then that would be pathetic and a picture perfect example of disrespecting what my parents have given me. My parents spent money on a really nice car for me. I don’t take kindly to being given false information. Next time you want to insinuate that I’m an entitled brat, do a little bit of your own research and analyze the entire situation.

Before you accuse me of “bitching about my mistakes” or being “disrespectful to my parents” and “ungrateful”, consider reading the actual text of the post.

I clearly *acknowledge* my mistakes and state that I have learned from them. If I were being disrespectful to my parents, I wouldn’t give to flying turds about being mislead because it’s not even my money that’s being spent. By asking questions about whether or not we have options, I’m showing that I respect them and wish that we could fix the situation.

yes, my parents bought me a really nice truck. They were mislead to believe that it was something it wasn’t. I don’t take kindly to them being mislead. You live and you learn. But most importantly, I’ve learned that people are incredibly sensitive, and quick to jump to conclusions. It’s incredible how toxic some of y’all are.

When I bought my truck in 2015, I specifically asked the salesman if they would be releasing a TRD Pro in the 3rd gen.... he told me no.... I bought the SR5 they had on the lot. He got what he wanted (a sale) and turns out I wouldn’t have bought a $40k+ truck anyway, so it all works out in the end. No amount of harping on the past will get you anywhere, you cannot prove you were mislead due to it being all hearsay. Sorry bud, enjoy the truck and move on.

    I didn't read through everything.

You say it was a really good price compared to other SR5s.

Was the price paid fair for the SR trim or do you feel you overpaid?
