I recently sprayed raptor liner on some BAMF sliders, turned out awesome. I intend to paint the face of the logo red, has anyone tried painting on top of raptor liner. One option could be buying a liter of tintable, and just mixing enough for a couple logos. Though I think it would be cheaper if I knew a compatible paint. I sent Upol and email, but haven’t heard back, I’ll try calling tomorrow.

If the logo is recessed or embossed for that matter, I'd probably rattle can it after masking it off - you'll be able to touch it up easily when it gets marred and you'll still have the protection of the liner underneath. Any rattle bomb should work afaik...

Embossed, I feel like it would be difficult to tape, I went with a pretty rough texture. Was thinking of using a roller with a thinner nap and just rolling the face.

Yep - you could get a quart of rusto enamel and an empty 1 gallon can and a roller grid.

So after a bunch of research, the cost difference between using a compatible 2k urethane paint, or tintable raptor is $75. The raptor costing with pigment about $45 and the paint, hardener, and thinner, (Thinner is apparently needed to make it rollable being that it is intended to be sprayed.) running $120. So I’ve settled on raptor. Now I need to decide color match the truck, 040 super white, or the other option I was thinking 3L5 radiant red, keeping it in the Toyota paint family, and I believe being the closest color to my TRD OR decal.

Finally pulled the trigger on this project... got the dreaded rusty roof condidtion tacomas (2nd gens) are known for and could see hazy cloudiness coming on the hood so I knew it was about to go next.

Rust was sanded down then primered then raptor lined. Chose to keep the emblems on and have them raptor lined to give that 3D type of effect to it.

That looks great!!! What type of spray gun did you use? What pressure and distance did you spray at. I am going to be spraying my shell and am trying to find out details of how to get a fine texture.

    Thanks

The guy used the actual Raptor liner gun. What's cool about their spray guns is they screw directly on to the bottles. The new raptor gun also has a brass fitting so that once you know what type of texture you want you can lock it into place. In my opinion I would buy some sheets of card board and practice on those first to fine tune your skills prior to lining the truck. After feeling it this stuff won't come off easy. Also I believe the guy sprayed it @50 psi and he had some type of regulator at the end of the hose before the spray gun.

After looking in to the cost of a single part color-matched Natural White (056) paint for my 2000 Tacoma's camper shell, I'm thinking of painting the shell with Raptor. I've used Raptor successfully on a slide-in camper in the past and liked the results. While I'm at it, was thinking of coating my rockers as they're fairly chipped from tire spray.

After the harsh winter, the shell finish looks even worse than it does here in this October pic:

    Couple questions though:

1-Looks like TCP Global has the tintable Raptor with Super White, GM white and can do custom tints to match. I tried to tint the Raptor liner I used on the slide-in camper to the truck it went on but it was a waste of money. Do you all think Super White or GM white is closest to my Toyota Natural White? Worth the extra $$ to have it color matched?

2-Is coating my rockers and camper shell with this stuff a bad idea? The truck is going to be sold soon and I'm just trying to make the two rougher details look as sweet as the rest of the truck. Should I just pony up to the single part?

I bought my truck that was raptor liner metallic silver. I’ve gotten a lot of compliments on the color. I like it a lot.

Curious, do the door jambs get lined also? Or would that probably prevent the doors from closing lol

Nice Job! The clearcoat on my '99 is starting to peel, I think this is the option I will go with instead of paint. Like that you didn't remove the factory emblems, looks great!

Hey all, sorry to bring a newb question to the thread!

So; we are raptor lining my GF’s FJ Cruiser. We just finished spraying the roof (2 coats), removed masking, bla bla bla.

We plan on spraying the body tomorrow!

My question is: How long does the roof have to cure before we can back-mask the roof line to prevent overspray? We are using frog tape and are incredibly impressed with the outcome thus far!!

Idk why this is upside down...

Is overspray of bedliner on bedliner a big deal? I think full cure is 5-7 days but seems like light use cure is 24 hours maybe???
