What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Finally replaced the burned out bulbs in my gauge cluster. Took about an hour from start to finish. There were two missing screws though so apparently it had been taken apart before I bought it...

 

Rotated the tires. It's only been just over 15k miles. Thought it might be a good idea.

 

mini h1s didnt fit in my housings. i had to cut the backs off to where they stick out about 1.5" and the lens still barely clears the projector. just jbwelded them in after

 

Put in a reman. cold weather denso starter earlier this week and had the front window tinted 70% and the sides 35% 2 weeks prior.

Ordered new valve cover gasket, grommets, plugs, intake gasket, some other small stuff located near there to do next month. Leaking like a biatch and smells in the cabin. Anyone know what cam seal they say to replace? Only seen the timing belt gear dust seal.

Also consider getting a new fuel regulator. Mine failed when I got everything back together, leaking fuel out of the airbox. Had to take the intake back apart to replace the regulator and get a new air box since the gas destroyed the rubber gasket inside it.

 

I don’t have any pics but if you are looking at the engine bay it’s on the passenger side behind the cruise control module in the corner. I can snag some when I get back home next week

 

I took the contractor out of the plastic box/housing and mounted it on the passenger side inner fender, between the air box and the cruise control module.,

 

I'm sorry but what did you do? Did you replace the carrier bearing? Pics?? Why did you need a special tool?

 

Thx man, i have my arb mounted there lol since I dont have a cruise control module. I appreciate the response. I got a lot of shit going on in my engine bay lol. Ive used up almost all the useable space for it. I like the idea of doing away with a bulky box. Im just gonna have to dive in and find a spot then get wire. I love this bumper though. Definitely love my winch so I will find a solution.

did you do anything to cover the now open contractor?

 

I did not cover it. If you think about it, all the box is, is a splash guard for when its mounted on the winch exposed to the elements. If you put the contractor under the hood, especially if it is higher up, then you don't have to worry about splashes. Also, the contractors are pretty well sealed anyway.

 

Good to know. Im looking at different threads now and @Dirty Pool has a sweet write up. I was installing the bumper and have been anticipating its fitment issues for a while. I failed to do my research prior to instal what can I say I was excited lol. Thx again for the info

 

Found out I had some vibration going on in the shitbox 99 today when I drove it back to school.

Only happens when I’m using the gas peddle. I’ve checked the ujoints but need to take a closer look at them along with the cb. Any other ideas?

Broke cable? Seized bell cranks? Honestly looks like cable may be broke or kinked

 

Then its not the motor mounts lol

 

Is it the spot where ABS would be? I’m putting an air compressor there already. I was able to squeeze the sPOD in between my battery and the frame of the truck. Only downside is to hook up new lights I need to take out my battery real quick.

 

Didn't you just put new tires on it? They probably need to be balanced
