I love the Cybertruck so much that a put down my $100 deposit today for the base model. Stainless steel exoskeleton, safest truck on the road, roomy, all electric drivetrain, quiet, minimal maintenance, will be able to handle light off-roading, should have the next generation of batteries, etc.

I see plenty of design changes to meet federal regulations before production begins (mirrors, steering wheel, exterior lighting, wheels, bumpers, etc.). I truly don’t expect to see my base model $39.9k Cybertruck until 2023. Let the long waiting period begin...

It's a great idea, instead of selling off shares, just ask for money and he's already said he wants to jump planet.

Think how easy it will be to fit radar absorbing panels on it!! Talk about flying under the radar.

Those same 150,000 people are already waiting in line for the iPhone 12, too.

Likely because the deposit was so low only a $100. How many of them turn into firm orders is unknown. We don't even know what the economic climate will look like when and if it's released. I wouldn't let Tesla borrow a $100 bucks for a product with no firm release date they rolled right over Model 3 deposit holders when that was released.

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in an era of cheap money.

I feel like Elon is really trying to market to the population that's ready to "bug out"

I think the Rivian truck is really hitting the mark as far as appealing to a normal market. The headlights are weird but the truck looks pretty good beyond that. They're gonna end up being like the same price point I think ~70k

My other theory; since Space X is Musk's main passion project and Tesla is mostly it's own thing now, I think as far as the design goes, his ultimate goal making such a sturdy truck was to offer affordable space travel to the masses, think about it okay
ElonTank comes rumbling behind you in your little compact car and smashes into you, yeeting you straight to Mars Gulag, right where he wants you

It's all part of the Elon stock pump, make the deposit low so enough people will jump on board. If he had asked the same deposit amount as the Model Y would the numbers be as good? I doubt it. I fully expect another Tweet before market open about 200k in deposits.

Just letting you know what the point of that picture was, which was a reference to the in-game Warthog vehicle.

Tesla packs are actually doing better than that score. Maybe not even one pack. And, given it's 2 years in the future...
