After you weld that gusset in, the fender washer gap will just about go away and be perfect. (On mine it did)

That's what I was hoping for, just a small enough gap to not make taking the UCA's in and out a nightmare.

I wish someone had told me to do that when I welded mine in.

Tonight was a ton of fun. Put the welder into full manual instead of autoset.

Got flat dialed in the way I like it pretty quickly. Then gave vertical down a go:

    C84550F0-E3AC-4072-885E-430194162136.jpg

    And then three vertical up’s:

I like the look of vertical down more for sure, but I don’t hate vertical up.

That is interesting for a young person like you .

Could you be getting flashed by Arcs around you with your hood up??

Flash yourself often ?? Using real cheap cover plates without UV protection . I am not sure if they can even be sold.

Your Eyes at least to me are not something to ignore if your not getting flashed a trip to the Eye Doctor might be in order

Kinda new to the fab game here, only ever had one college course about 7 years ago but going to be putting some of those skills to practice with an upcoming build.

Done with a Gas mig welder at work on 3/16. I forget the settings but I stopped to up the voltage and increased my travel speed (hence the two beads lol). Oval/circular pattern drag so what I'm asking is what do you guys think?

Any constructive criticism to help me get better would help!

Make the puddle dance to your tune.

not sure if those were just practice pieces but in most cases do the machine work before the welding

Anyone got any tips on tube bending? Gonna start bending my back half and exo cage and it’s my first time bending tube.

Long fucking day with the welder.

Then I went to the hard stuff:

    2A81C47A-4568-4A3C-B7B8-DADFA5B0D14C.jpg

And that’s the only weld you will see of those gussets cause the rest are hot garbage.

So much time behind a gun today, was happy about that. Can’t wait to keep practicing.

bend-tech pro software. If you plan on bending tubing on a more regular basis it’s worth the investment ($295). Has a bunch of preloaded bed cages and exo cage templates that you can modify to your liking for your truck. The program takes 98 % of the math out of tube bending

    Practice

Then it seems each bender has it`s own tricks to get the best out of it.

Another tip for tube bending is don’t try to attempt it without a POB (plane of bend) bracket and angle finder if you’re doing multiple bends in a part otherwise you’ll have a difficult time making a part stay straight in one plane or knowing what angles to bend at if your part requires different planes

Hope not lol. I typically would run a bead on one gusset and then move to the other. Back and forth all day so shit could cool. Same with the top plates.
