4th gen v8 runners are a damn fine vehicle (other than cv axle boots being common) 05 and up are the ideal years for the 5 speed auto and the 4.7 vvti

More excellent info, thank you! CV boots aren't a big deal since we deal with that on our Taco's as well.

If your buying one make sure the t belt has been done (ideally with oem parts, interference engine) if it hasn’t budget for replacement asap. Make sure the 4x4 (or awd in some) works right. (Can have issues if not used enough) after all that not a whole lot goes wrong (wheel bearings on some, the infamous Toyota 4 piston calipers seizing up.) engines are bullet proof and the transmission ain’t effect but they tend to last.

The 4.0 v6 ain’t bad either, just prone to leaks. And they lack the v8 grunt but minimal mpg advantage

Good to know about the t-belt and being an interference engine. Already reviewed a thread on doing the t-belt on the v8 but must have missed the part about it being interference. Definitely will be going with the v8 tho.

They’re good. If the cam seals are leaking on a non vvti it’s not a huge deal. If the they’re leaking on a vvti engine cams have to come out (not terrible job, but have to be a little careful. Other than that I’ve only ever had one 4.7 fail. 310k miles overheated because t stat stuck closed. Guy warped both heads.

Other than that I’ve done 2 that other shopped botched the timing belt jobs on.

Which stereo do you have now? Mine is aftermarket but still too big to fit the switches that came with the sPOD.

    Suicide Hi Lift mount, nice

I dunno if that's better or worse than putting it right beneath the windshield like the Jeep guys do

Question...when pick up my new (to me) bumper in a couple weeks - I'm going to have to order some turn signals for it obviously since the lower valence gets removed for the bumper. Do those little round amber LEDs most people buy plug right into the stock turn signal harnesses or do you have to modify the wiring?
