Do y’all know of any special tricks like eBay coupons, trd parts sale (40% off several months ago), Black Friday deals, best dealer prices ect...or do I just pony up the 400+ dollars for the TRD Pro skid plate? Thanks in advance. Kevin

Watch for black Friday sales. Last year I ordered a couple things from a dealer with good discount. I don't remember the dealer name, but keep an eye out in the marketplace here.

Don't pay full price. Watch Craigslist, Offer Up, Tacoma World BST thread and Facebook Marketplace. They pop up in the $250 to $300 range all of the time.

Or go with an aftermarket skid (steel or aluminum). Mobtown, RCI, CBI, BAMF, etc.

If you buy new, expect to be missing some bolts (the packaging is terrible).

Wait for Pro owner to buy new truck and offer them a $100 for their's. Quite a few Pro owners are dumber than a box of rocks. Within months everything that made it a Pro is gone in favor of aftermarket chit. They might as well have bought an SR

I have the Pro skid plate, all the hardware was there, heavily greased the bolts and bolted it up.

Know that most aftermarket transmission skids do not bolt up to the Pro skid. IIRC CBI is the only one that makes a compatible transmission skid for the Pro skid.

Bought mine new for $340 including tax from my local dealer. Some parts depts will sell for wholesale if you ask. Also mine came with all the hardware and if its missing that's an easy fix for the dealer to fix.

If you want new, great pricing at BAM Wholesale Parts, $341.25 plus shipping. Just got mine, “Save10” should get you another $20 off.

100% agree. I ended up with a second set of he because a few books got lost in transit. The rolled out of the large grab handle holes in box.

A few were missing from mine too, they poked right thru the cardboard and fell out.

Did your bolts have retainer washers? Just bought one new from the dealer last month and every bolt had a retainer washer so it couldn't fall out, made installation a breeze too. Wondering if Toyota revised the design due to complaints or if your retainer washers failed.

The retention washers work well during assembly, not so much during shipping.

Yes they had retainers, but the impact during shipping obviously knocked them out. It seemed like It happened to quite a few people too, the box should have been designed to shield the area where the bolts are.

Have the dealership keep ordering a skid plate until it comes in with all the hardware. I got two of them at different times for my truck and my son's truck and both were perfect. Check before you but and make them get it right before you pay! It's pretty easy guys.

Yeah it's great if you are personally picking it up at a Dealership, the packaging sucks for getting it shipped via Fed-Ex or UPS as that is where the hardware is getting lost.

Yes, if you have a local dealer you trust. Some of us have to order these parts and have them shipped.
