You dont need to justify what you paid for the truck or why you are losing the love for it here. The ribbing is part of the beauty of this site, you'll get used to it.

To answer your question plainly and easily, get the OVtune. Will vastly improve everything you mentioned you have issues with and bring back the love.

Side note.. i have an M/T which was a no brainer for me after test driving the slush box but i wasnt super happy with the massive throw on the stock gearbox, clutch feel (or lack thereof) and the electronic pedal response. I went into the purchase KNOWING i was going to spend an extra 1k on a short shifter, accumulator delete and OVtune because this day and age i dont expect anything or anyone to be perfect out of the box.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll definitely look into it. David, funny you should mentioned using ECT, I figured it out about a month in and it does makes a difference.

on an actual funny note. Did anyone freak out the first time they had it in cruise control and the proximity sensor kicked in and the truck slowed down when you were 50 yards behind another car. Lmao. Won’t lie, I’m not used to the electronic aids that come with cars now.

Quick take on my experience; 2017 TRD Pro-the tranny is sluggish and hunts for gears off the lot. Mine started doing better around the 8000 mile mark. I run 2 tanks back to back of premium every 3 months that has a noticeable difference. End all be all use the ECT button. Agree it should be a better tranny for 40k

Yup... i love/hate the system. I hate how you have to change the distance everytime you restart the truck and the cruise system from 3 bars to 1. 3 bars makes driving it rediculous.

The only decent automatic I've been recently was a duramax with the 6 speed Allison. Now that automakers have 6,8,10 speed autos goofy shifting and gear hunting is a thing across the board. Even the tried and true 5 speed in my now traded 2018 4Runner hunted too much for my taste and wanted to keep RPM's below 2k.

Push and hold the cruise button to deactivate that radar and it will operate like the old days, in case you haven't found that out yet.

Keep the truck and look into the OVTune as others have said.

Not really, about the same price as an OR, which is why people opt for the OR over the sport, a loaded sport with tech and premium would have a $40-42k MSRP. Hopefully he didn't pay MSRP, but if he's factoring TTL, then $40k is very reasonable.

Your options on the transmission issue is:

    1. OVTune

    2. Nitro Gears

    3. Magnuson supercharger

    4. ECT on all the time

    5. Another vehicle

Sucks to have buyers remorse on such a huge purchase man. Sorry to hear that. I've got a 19 tss v6 4x4 and love it. I think it seems a little under powered but I tend to have a heavy foot and dont need something fast and sporty or I'd get in more trouble then I already do.I pretty much baby my truck on the road because I want it to last.

It’s not a “problem” with the transmission, it’s the way it’s geared and tuned for milage ratings. A very reliable transmission. Yep needs to warm up a bit, only takes mine a minute or two rolling. Use ECT mode for local driving normal mode for highways for milage. I found the ECU apparently “learns” and mine performed better after 1000-1500 miles. No complaints now that I know how to make it do what I want-agressive on the pedal in a lower gear to accelerate, ease up when I want it to upshift, working well, no expensive OVtune needed for me.
