I just looked up the statistics for the average plumber's income:

 

Where I live, any qualified tradesperson worth their salt, can break $120k Cdn as an employee in the right situation, which is about $90k USD. The sky is the limit working for yourself. I hear the wages are lower, where the cost of living is lower in some US states. I’m sure in Seattle, New York, Bay Area, etc, they guys that try are pulling in 6 figures.

Is 56k USD a good average living for US plumbers? I don’t have the right frame of reference.

 

Well we’ve finally gone backwards in car design. I didn’t think we’d go back that far that fast though. Maybe the next one will be nice and curvy and have tail fins.

 

Many trades jobs are tied into the economy.

When the economy is humming along, there is plenty of work for everyone.

During lean times, not so much.

General rule of thumb is that anyone with a trade/ skill will always be able to put food on the table, no matter what the economic climate.

I have found this to be true, fwiw.

 

Honestly and truthfully, I don’t think the cybertruck styling is innovative, or edgy, or daring, or futuristic, or game changing. It is only one thing: LAZY. It’s a totally LAZY design, that presents itself as daring, but truthfully it’s boring. It comes from the minds of nerds who spent too much time jacking off and playing Halo.

Think of the effort required to make this work as a car, and be appealing and harmonious in its design:


Like it or lump it, this corvette is an achievement that demands some respect, even if not to your taste.

this cybertruck is obnoxious in how very little effort they put into it. Those that say the glory days are over, might actually be right.

 

Maybe the innovative and daring part of the cybertruck is what's inside that metal and glass tent, not what's outside.

That old Corvette is beautiful for sure. The old stingray is a favorite of mine.

On that subject, I have a friend whose passion is restoring classic 50's and 60's cars. He freely admits that these cars are just for show, and the lowest priced Yaris is light years ahead on drivability.

I read awhile back that EV's are just computers on wheels. The days when exterior appearance matter are probably going the way of the dial up internet connection, like it or not.

 

Yeah for sure. To clarify, I’m not anti-electric car. I will be the first in line when Toyota makes an EV 4x4. I just think the Tesla effort is weak from a styling perspective. Likely it was intended to do just what it has done: get people talking.

 

I think you are in luck with the hybrid rav4 that coming out next year I think.

How many trucks can pull this off? They claim the same 1/4 mile time as a 2018 Corvette ZR1, 10.8 seconds.
0-60 in 2.9 seconds.
