Just got my new plates for my 08 and have only now noticed that
the front plates are screwed directly into the bumper.
Is the standard mount spot for front license plates in tacos?
And if not, any ideas on where to find a bracket.
I only ask because here in TX you gotta have both front and back
plates which is lame but it's a law, or so I hear.
    Thanks in advance...

I'm in pa and don't have front plates but my truck came from Virginia and it came with the holes already drilled in the front bumper, so I don't believe there is a bracket that im aware of.

How does Toyota overlook license plate brackets?
And worse, how do I overlook the lack of said brackets
    prior to buying my truck:confused:
    Lesson learned, once again...
    Thanks fellas for your replies

When I bought my truck I think they drilled them at the dealership and put on their license plate holder on with a cardboard cutout of their dealership name in it. And they used screws to put it on, same as the back. You may need to use a drill to drill holes out.

You can use screws for the front, or use a plate holder and screws (which I think is better). I would recommend going to the autoparts store, they'll have everything you'll need. I would also highly recommend using security screws for both front/rear plates to help prevent theft of plates. They use a special key to put on/off, and a plastic cover could be good too.

Or what WhipperSnapper02 recommend is a good idea for the front.

I noticed last time I took off the front plate, that there was a little rub on the paint, you may want to pick up some thin foam tape, and put on plate, not on paint.

    Hope that helps.

They dont require front plates in AZ either so im stuck with 2 holes in my brand new truck. The dealers here should really think that some ppl may not want an optional front plate before they go drilling holes in the bumper.

    I agree...
I believe it's 'technically' a law in tx that's rarely enforced,
but I know that every time I had a beer and drove I'd freak out
about being stopped by an overzealous Plano cop for not having one
and end up going thru another sobriety test - of which i've passed
two !!!! so bring it!! but not really..

Now I have to figure out how to cover up the copious amount of fkn scratches the license plate did to the bumper.

    Once again experts, suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

If the marks are deep you will have to repaint or cover it up. if you repaint you might want to fill the holes and paint over.
If shallow then buff it out.

Cover King Seat Covers, WeatherTech Liners, PopNLock, storage bin locks, N-Fab Step bars, and G4 Elite Tonneau cover.
Mine were predrilled from the dealership so they could add there stupid advertising plastic plate and frames so when I got my plates from the state I just used the same holes.

+1 just make sure you make the whole a tiny little bit bigger than the recommended 1/4" drill so they can be pushed in all the way flush with the bumper
