There is zero guarantee the new Ranger will be “superior” to the present model. If anything, it will probably be worse.

I don’t buy this whole “placeholder” idea. That’s kinda like saying your ugly girlfriend is a placeholder until you marry a bikini model. No one believes you.

Who knows what's going to happen in the coming years. Tesla just tossed a grenade into the truck industry 2 days ago. I feel like it's going to force all manufacturers to figure out a response.

I have still yet to hear of a Tacoma being outperformed by a Ranger off-road. Most videos you watch people seem to be very let down with the Rangers. On road yea I’ll agree with you there but I bought a truck for off-road not a street princess.

This image got leaked from Toyota’s truck design headquarters a couple hours back. That’s the new Tundra, 2nd from the right.

TFL is the CNN of YouTube. The same channel that says the Fiat gladiator will be the most reliable small size pickup. The channel who does everything they can to shit on Toyota.

TFL always rigs things against the Tacoma. We know that because those guys are shills for the domestics. The dweeby guy was stepping on the brakes or something in the Pro. Crawl control has taken me right up stuff 4X that steep, so he musta been screwing up something, unless the truck is a lemon. Might have thought you put the parking brake on maybe?

I'm not so sure about that. Toyota flew the TFL truck guys and other press members on a Hawaii vacation a few years ago to test drive manual and automatic TRD pros. If they really hated Toyota that much, why would Toyota spend the money to fly them out there?

Because that was a few years ago, before Toyota figured out who butters the TFL bread.

Would be funny if the new Tundra weren't an ugly whale:

In the defence of TFL, the Canadian Ontario hoser guy gives Toyota a fair shake. They must not have been able to reign him in due to different legalities in Canada.

Except when it subject to a total loss event and you're calling Dave Ramsey asking if you should take out a personal loan to cover the difference because eating a Chili's once a week was more important than GAP insurance.

Or the wife gets knocked up for the fourth time in four years and wants something bigger.

lmao they straight-up throw in an ad for an accessory for the Ford right in the beginning.

I will say, I don't care about the marginal performance differences between the two. I just like how the Tacoma is more likely to have zero mechanical issues 6 years later.

Since neither model is six years old yet that’s pretty hard to know.

Go on a Ranger forum and you’ll find posts just like this with all the same unsubstantiated opinions on how much better the Ranger is and how the Tacoma sucks.

The Toyota reliability record needs no defense.

As was already mentioned above, Resale Value can have an impact if you plan on keeping it, imagine it getting totaled in an accident and you ending up with a very low settlement.

That's what GAP and diminished value claims are there for.
