So riding is out for this weekend then? I still have my set of factory wheels if you're interested. They have tires on them, but don't have much life on them anymore.

Also a guy in GA is selling 5 bronze SCS Ray 10s 16x8 if you're interested as well. I think he has a pretty good asking price for them.

Any of you guys, with 2nd Gens, ever heard a whining noise, like a pump or electrical motor under strain, coming from the engine bay at idle and while driving? This happened yesterday when we were leaving for Church. I started the truck and immediately heard it. I put it in reverse and it got louder, put it in drive and it stayed the same pitch, put it in neutral and it lowered but I could still hear it. I did allow it to warm up a tad before putting it in gear. No dummy lights are lit up on the dash. I drove on to church and could hear it faintly over the road noise. Left church and it was still doing it on the way to the grocery store. Left the grocery store, stopped at a light and the noise stopped. Hasn't done it since.

The heater was not on. The radio was off. Sounded like it was coming from dead center of the firewall, in the engine bay.

Sounds maybe like an electric shopping cart running under load. Heard that in the grocery store :) and it reminded me of it. A pump struggling under a heavy load.

I'm puzzled as to why it stopped making the noise. My truck has never made this noise before and is always a smooth silk.

    Any ideas?

you right, what was I thinking?

honestly I have no clue though. my truck makes all kinda of noises haha. at idle it rumbles deeper than I feel like it should but the rpm's don't change...and if I turn the A/C on the same sound happens almost like the compressor is vibrating too much.

I could just tell and so could Tiffany that something was not right. Her thought was oil pump. Bart thinks Alternator. It is a whining like an electrical motor or vibration. No visible signs under the hood of anything leaking or out of place. It was very evident between 500 RPM and 1500 RPM. WAAAAAOOOO, WAAAAOOOOOO is a very technical description.

you were pretty descriptive with the electric wheelchair under load, we've all heard that if we've ever visited a walmart.

I've had an alternator do this in my 2nd gen, a high pitched whirring noise. Diode whine. Does the pitch get higher as you give it more gas?

I would say so yes. More load, higher pitch. Didn't do it this morning though
