So do I, but it really depends on where in North Charleston. I can take you to a spot in Mt. Pleasant that I wouldn't walk around at night. I lived in Columbia in college and you literally couldn't pay me enough to move there. My company has tried numerous times. Never again.

I worked for NCFD. You can’t imagine the crime that happens that doesn’t make the news. People getting shot in front of the fire station in broad daylight, executions, drugs running rampant... etc. The last year I worked there, they had 7 homicides by January 7th. Crime doesn’t just stay in low income areas.

I mean, it's not a coincidence that that one of the live PD units are in Columbia.

I have lived here for a LONG time broham. Crime is everywhere. I live in a nice, quiet neighborhood on the Ashley River in unincorporated Dorchester County, so technically i'm not in N. Charleston. Is it the best, nope. But other than when I lived on Folly I wouldn't live anywhere else. You do you though, some people love Cola, those people are weird.

    Lexington population is ~22k

    N. Chas population is ~109k

With that being said, the statistics on crime rate per capita are probably a bit off.

Edit for population update so they’re both 2018 stats.

    1. Happy Birthday to people I've never met!

    2. Yes Columbia sucks. I just hate the heat.

    3. Does anyone have enough offroading experience here to answer a question for a noob? I posted this in the armor section but haven't gotten an answer yet.

Thoughts on 3/8" recovery points on slimline bumper

I've ordered a slimline bumper from a TW vendor. It has 3/8" recovery points and made from 3/16" steel. I've been told by another source that 1" recovery points are the way to go. I've asked the vendor and I can upgrade to 1" for an additional fee.

I'm looking for an unbiased opinion on this as I'm new to the armor game. I'd rather hear from real world experiences and people with much more experience than myself.
So 3/8" is sufficient or spend the money on 1"?

Why would you not have ordered one from Eddy at SOS? Mistake #1.

I did. But I was keeping the company names out of it so as to get an unbiased opinion. Now that's not possible.

3/8” are standard and heavy enough. The frame of your truck will give before that recovery point will.

1” seems like complete overkill...it’s a light passenger truck, not a tank. But that’s just my opinion.

3/8" is plenty for steel...if you get Al, I think he does 1" standard.

Eddy's stuff is trail tested and not just for show like a lot of other vendors, so I would disregard what your "source" has to say.

I appreciate the info. Like I said, I'm new at this concerning armor. As a side question (not that I don't believe you), are either one of you affiliated with SOS?
None of what I've posted is meant to be a slam at anyone. Just trying to learn and get unbiased opinions.
