Man, am I glad you guys talked about this little issue. My drivers side LCA nut had almost backed off the inside. Pass side had 5/8ths sticking out of nut. Driver's side bolt was hiding down in the nut. But a skid plate removal and a few twists with the 1/2 in rachet later, no more god awful popping, end-of-the-world noise machine gunning out at me every time I leave my driveway or parking spot. That was a close one. I musta looked under there 10 times trying to find that and never saw it...til today, thanks to your thread. Now I gotta figger out what those little guage wheels with the hashmarks mean and get 'em all lined up. There were close by eyeball, but need a good cleanin' so's I can see 'em better. thanks again guys! Always relevant and most of the time, ON TIME!

Thanks for the information in this post. I was experiencing a similar sound on my truck. I finally found the problem was a loose nut on the bolt connecting the upper control arm. After tightening it, the sound was completely gone.

Those "gauge wheels" are the cams for the caster and camber. You can't look at them and make them all the same. You need to have an alignment done. You can get them close to the same after replacing parts before driving to an alignment shop.

Figured out my front end noise this week. The rear bushing on the drivers side LCA was bad.

Hey man, ever figure this out?
I just did a bunch of work to my truck and its making that metal on metal popping. It does it while turning and flexing for me. I was able to replicate it a few times in a row. Passenger front at full compression while turning left full lock and passenger rear at full droop.

Jack the ftont of your truck up and have someone steer it stop to stop. Check to see if the top of the knuckle contacts the spring at all . From what I have seeno it all depends on strut/shock and coil . Eibach/bilstein are a tad longer and allow for more droop, but also allow the upper control arm to swing inward . Some of the coils are slightly larger than stock as well. Look for rust or can put masking tape on the coil in the area and go out and do your thing . Hear the noise see if the tape is been touched.

Posted the solution right above your post. It was a LCA bushing.
