They will pass most uncovered lights at the hole-in-wall inspection stations. If you go to any of the major retailers (JiffyLube, VA Tired & Auto, etc) in the Ashburn area, they will fail you. Best cover them up or just find a hole-in-wall place where if you tell them you have the covers but forgot them they will just pass you.

 

When did you get it checked? I know in July they had a new reg passed I got mine done last feb - Had to be covered in fairfax

Might have changed but back in Feb yeah they got me. No SAE they gave me shit, this year I will go somewhere else.

 

Dude. Ill do everything but the alignment for WAY LESS and have done work on plenty of local tacos.

 

Rock on. My mortgage company offered a deal to pull partial payment on a weekly/biweekly basis, but after reading the fine print, I opted not to since they're just pulling the money and holding it until the full payment amount is there before applying it so there was no benefit.

Yeah... They all have that fine print. But if you take a single payment, and divide it by 12, and add exactly that much to every payment, AND mark it to go to principal only, then you'll knock like ten years off the length of the mortgage.

 

Any auxiliary light has to be SAE approved and turn off when the high beams are turned on. If they don't meet this they have to be covered. I have snap on covers for my ditch lights and a suction cup cover for the bar in my bumper. Never had an issue. I think one year they thanked me for it.

Edit: it's been like this for as long as I can remember. So like yesterday. Seriously, 30 years or more.

This was in October, I was going to buy covers but said fuck it I’ll deal with it if I fail...I didn’t fail haha. I’m sure they didn’t feel like dealing with it or something

I take my truck to GT Peace in Chantilly. Never any issues, and I dont have SAE either.

There is a new law about the lights, I think that was passed in July/August, saying that they dont need to be covered, but they cant be on.. Im about to order a roof light bar, and I have no plans on covering it.

Yeah they are in DC, Probably why there are so many spots. The gas station next to my house has it! But yeah once you leave this area it’s not as popular

 

Oh, I saw ya! I was just brain-fogged from the cold, NyQuil Severe did the trick tho!

I go to that gas station solely because of the Upside App. Otherwise, the station near my office in Sterling is nearly the same cost without the rebate haha.

 

I can tell you will get a much better job done. Adam knows Tacoma’s inside and out. He has done work on my truck and my sons truck.
