Thank you. The counterfeit injectors for the 3.4L look very close. Though there are some subtle marking differences that give away the counterfeits. The counterfeits are made from a lower grade of plastic that started to deform (read melt) over time and caused a fuel leak.

If I was not the type of person that monitors my engine closely, the whole truck could have gone up in flames from the fuel leak.

This is serious business and these counterfeit injectors from China are nothing but dangerous.

This is the last thing I need to read as my new injectors are sitting on my toolbox awaiting some free time from me. :fingerscrossed: they ain’t from Amazon though and Timmah’s video will make it smooth going when I have time

Show us some pictures before you install them. We need to add some real product from Rock Auto to the catalog.

Amazon has vendors that sell authentic injectors. Amazon has vendors that sell counterfeits. I think we have some misinformation going around about how vendors work and stuff. Amazon is a platform for vendors to sell product. The built in Amazon part finding guide is usually very good, but even if it wasn't, it always makes sense to verify you have a correct part number through another source outside of Amazon as well. Amazon has excellent return policies. Don't be dumb and get scammed by a bad vendor on Amazon's platform. It's not hard to verify with reviews and the plethora of info nowadays(internets) if stuff is authentic or not. If verifying your parts is not something you like to do, you prefer just throw in a make and model and just want oem guaranteed, by all means spend double the amount and use your local dealer or an online oem parts dealer will get you a break on price compared to your local dealer service dept.

Your new injectors are some of the best on the market today.. I can't think of anything better. That's why I bought a set.

Doesn't matter where you got em, what matters is you inspected the parts and you can tell you got the same ones CS_AR is running? Then yes, you got the correct original injectors to run

I thought so and figured. But I think you'll agree, any detail oriented inspecting of the injectors will give little clues right? Cause even the ones you sent to be flow tested had the little discrepancies (missing markings, slight difference in appearance/color, etc)in the plastic details and stuff, no?

He takes a different model number. I guess I could go buy that injector locally for around $120 each, photograph it, then return it.

They did.. Very subtle tell-tale signs that need to be magnified.

Gosh I thought so, but I'd hope it's something even a layman could see though. We almost really do need to make a sticky that everyone could see titled like 'BEFORE YOU BUY INJECTORS!' and we could have pics of the good and bad ones.... Hell we should just have that post you made as the sticky. Had all the pertinent info:cool::D

Since we are dealing with fuel and possibly damage to property and life from fire, how could a legal damage settlement be reached with some injectors from China that are being sold by these internet sellers? Rock Auto has an obligation to sell safe products because they intend to be in business tomorrow.

Some of the "fly by night" operations could care less.

I've got enough info for 3.4L Phase II injectors, its the 4-cylinder engines where I'm lacking.

I would assume any vendor can be duped and sell the wrong thing and then it's on ourselves to be able to make sure the part WE are installing in OUR own truck is up to par. I just don't like assuming things or counting on things that are out of my control period. What is in my control is inspecting it myself before I install it. I dunno my expectations of others has become pretty low lolol and of myself seems to be rising :rofl:

But those fine details, or lack of, are probably very similar
But yeah if we get actual pics that's cool. More than anything folks need to know there is something to be careful about with buying injectors(be aware of counterfeits), and then it's on them if they heed the warnings and inspect their parts

I've actually lost some sleep thinking about how to properly frame this without going into so much detail that ordinary people get buried in the details. We can show pictures of the products that are blatantly counterfeit. It would be better to provide links to sites that are selling counterfeits -- though that might put TW at some type of risk if it appears to be too organized.

Let's think about it. One problem I see is that we don't find about a purchase that has gone wrong until after the fact.

Yeah I'm not sure there's a whole lot we can do besides educate. Maybe keep lists current.
Ultimately we want to keep someone from installing a bad injector. May still cause further downtime when it's caught but we kinda only control the QA of what we install, not so much of what's shipped to us. We just have good faith on that, but I better have more than faith on what's in my hand and I'm installing it. I can see it, etc
But I'm game for improvements on the vendor end as well, I just wouldn't have as much of an idea of that they could or couldn't do. Well I guess we drill haven't had a problem from a reputable vendor right? When it comes to counterfeits that's usually some cheap bums on ebay and Amazon?

    Question:
I am about to order the injectors from MotorWest. The "brand new upgraded" Densos are less expensive than the OEM reconditioned ones. Not by much, but do you have anything to say about that or any recommendations one way or the other? Thanks!
