Chains are for those who can’t drive and for mobsters that love their gold and track suits.

I thought chains went on the drive wheels, so if you're running 4wd, you chain all 4, right?

Also, don't you only chain up if you're going over the mountain?

Chains give unbelievable traction, ice, deep snow, whatever. Became a believer after I used them to get my car out of a snow filled ditch years ago. I would put them on the rear wheels of a 4x4 if you only have one set. Plus I don't know if theyd clear everything up front when turning full lock

Oregon and chains are required to drive over the passes. We get ice on top of packed snow and studs only work in the black ice and freezing rain. Big storm coming in and i love to drive in the stuff.

I put chains on my old Ford Pinto 30 years ago. Drove thru snow up to my knees like nothing! It was a tank (speed like a tank too - 20 mph Max lol!)

Chains will not clear the front suspension components on the Tacoma's,chain up the front at your own risk.

M1Awolf. Good point. I have never had chains and lived here all my life but now you get a big ticket if you don’t chain up. Never had studs either. I well carry them in the bed and only use them on the rear wheels if i am forced to.

If only one set they go on the rear. If 4X4, and if you can make them fit front and rear for extreme conditions. I wouldn't use them on just the front unless it is a front wheel drive car.

There are a lot of conditions where chains are the only way to get around. And they ain't just for snow. They are bad ass in rough conditions.

Or.. if you want to drive over the pass in MT. They are required, regardless of what tires you have (even studded) if the "Chains Required" sign is lit up.

I have snow socks also and they pass for chains with the police.

4 fresh new winter tires with studs installed on a 4x4 with v-bar chains on the rear will make you feel like a God damn superhero in the worst Canadian snow storm.
